Re: Champions Trophy 2017
Reeks ODI averages: Batting 6.57 and bowling 40.83. What a fantastic selection, and as for the rest, too many T20 players. Apart from Smith, the batting looks very average.

I was trying to find a logical reason for his selection. At least we know why we are lumbered with Duminy.

Our idiot selectors like to pick players based on 'potential' rather than form. You only have to look at Australia's slide down the rankings to see how this is working.
Re: Champions Trophy 2017
After his highly embarrassing effort in SL, Reeks should've had his file marked NTPFAA. Yes it was Tests, but his ineptitude was breathtaking.
And I'm convinced The Greek will prove a one hit wonder.

not sure why we're supposed to get excited/angry about the Champions Trophy. Waste of time tournament.

IMHO it is a better tournament than the WC. It is over quickly and doesn't drag on forever like the

True dat but it gives an idea of what the selectors are thinking for the real cricket & it doesnt look good.

... it's a tournament South Africa has won?
Agree with you about the IPL. Death throes, you'd think (and hope).

Under a straight knock out format. I think we all agreed the past few WC's dragged on for too long.

Agree with taips on this. It's a bit of a spare wheel tournament, but it is fun when it comes around.

I have no recollection of any of the previous 'Champions tournaments'.
Apparently Australia has won it a couple of times too.

What Taips said: the are fewer meaningless games in the Champions Trophy. It's a much tighter tournament altogether and doesn't suck the oxygen out of the air like the World Cup

Re: Champions Trophy 2017
England's squad:
Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire), Sam Billings (Kent), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), David Willey (Yorkshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham)
Pretty much as expected - the selectors will have their fingers crossed about Wood's fitness though

I think you under-estimate NZ in this format at your peril.
We may not make the semis ... not that that means anything in this format.
