West Indies v India, 3rd Test, Gros Islet, 9-13 August, 2016
Maybe a better showing in T3 from the Ganjas after their heartening survival in T2??

Surely its time for Marlon Samuels to be dropped?

And Saha should be gone too. Llong being very generous with the lbw there.

Good recovery by the Bannies. Ashtray looks to be heading for another Test ton.

Rahul has broken his (previously) very polarised sequence.

Any thoughts on Alzarri Joseph? Was anyone watching? Only 19 & a star of a recent U19 World Cup.
I'm thinking that now they have Joseph & Gabriel opening the bowling, they could ask Taylor to make himself available, bring back Benn & with Chase bowling regularly, the entire attack could be christian names as surnames. Maybe Samuels could even chuck a few down.

That decision saved India from total disaster.

Crikey!! A massive 213 partnership for the 6th wicket (congrats to Ashtray & Saha on their tons) then a 5-14 collapse to end the innings. The wonderful vagaries of Test Cricket.

Windies 1/107 at stumps on 2nd day....quite slow run rate with Bravo and Braithwaite digging in.

The Ashtray/Saha 6th wicket stand was a record by some way for India v WI Tests. Their 213 easily surpassed India's previous 6th wicket record between these teams i.e. 170 by Gavaskar/Shastri at Chennai in 1983.
It was India's 5th best 6th wicket partnership of all time.

Bowled a few hostile spells last Test, did very well. He's got the ball to bounce of a good length, bowled an absolutely snorter to get Kohli. WI has found 'something'.
Playing for WI the odds are high he may fizzle out due to lack of support but for now the best thing I liked about him was that he 'looks' a proper Windian fast bowler in the old style- i.e. a'n evil looking b@stard who, despite the fact that he's a 19 year old playing his first Test, didn't smile once, did not look overawed, and in fact looked like it would be his especial pleasure to dine on your guts anytime you care to name a venue, for all that your name could be Virat Kohli. Or Sachin Tendulkar for that matter.
Ps: I just had a look at his cricinfo page pic where he is smiling but IMO it's the kind of smile where you wish he hadn't.

Yeah, Joseph looks good. I just hope he doesn't get seduced by T20 and/or badly treated by West Indies. Cummins doesn't look bad either. And Gabriel is an improved bowler from what I saw 12-18 months ago. Chase seems to be able to do a decent job as the holding spinner as well. Their attack actually looks more than useful at the moment.

Oh dear Ganjas. Cruising at 3-202, they then lose 7-23 FFS.

Dear God in Heaven. Windies crumble for just 108 to get smashed when they should have been able to scramble to a draw.
With the 7-23 collapse in I1, the Ganjas lost 17 wickets for just 131 runs to plummet to defeat. Sooks.

Just when you thought the Windies were starting to show a bit of grit in the last test.....
