Re: World Cup 2019
Bangers need snookers now, but credit to them for building an innings and getting as close as they can, rather than just slogging aimlessly in pursuit of a probably unachievable target.

Yes, yes he is. Personification of a pointless cricketer, right up there with NoShow.
No way known will Aus get 353. Bumrat will have us 3-20 and it'll be all over Red Rover.

Decent innings that. And so far a good start to the bowling as well.
Starc's not the smartest bowler around.

No-Show gone, should be game, set and match, even allowing for NCN’s feats the other day...

I know the perceived wisdom has always been to chase in this format given the choice, particularly in daylight matches, but these days I really think you want to bat, if conditions are good. Chasing down 350+ is incredibly difficult, needs everything to go your way.

Re: World Cup 2019
As much as i hate to admit it, even Mitch Marsh would be a better choice than Stoinis.
Re: World Cup 2019
beamer, basil - would you make any changes to the England team vs WIndies?
Tinkering is rarely a good idea. (Though England seem to be following some minimal-rotation plan.)
But on the strength of performances so far, surely some case for Curran (pity it's not Sam) for Woakes?
Not just because CW is currently 21 - 0 - 162 - 3 (and the three wickets far too late against Pakistan). But because he seems to be having trouble getting in the groove, for some reason. And I don't know if he needs more nets, or what.
He can knock a few quick runs towards the end of an innings (so far 52 for twice out, off only 36 balls), But Curran can do that too.
Just a thought. Who knows (who knows the reasons?). He could be MoM next Friday ... but his bowling so far has been a weak point for the team. As weak as any, so far.
Thoughts?

Re: World Cup 2019
Fair call, BA.
Also, exactly what is the point of Stoinis? Concedes 62 runs off 7 overs and scores 0. Useless dope.
Looks like the top order was far too slow to allow us to get anywhere near the Bannie total.
Meanwhile, the Sheep march on undefeated.

Stoinis is just another name on the list of useless Vomits , that are living off one good performance (refer to Cam White)
Warner , most unusually was far to slow trying to build his innings and had Aus even further behind the Eight Ball.

Zampa has been shit for a fair while
He is no Hogggggyyyy or TGM
But he is better in Jamodi than Gaz
If you have someone better than Stoiner tell the selectors

Darsh. The 5 bowlers would be Koo, 2nd, NCN/Beerdork, Zappa/Elmer, NoShow.

Re: World Cup 2019
Just to say those could be the two finalists, if they avoid each other in the semis.
Yes, Oz will have to up their game in some respects - and wake up Warner, for a start, also probably hook Stoinis - but still a good side.
But who knows how the unpredictables are going to perform between now and the possible semis? WIndies, Pakistan, and the host country.

Re: World Cup 2019
I think it’s fair enough to rotate the bowlers a bit, even if you don’t want to tinker in key positions. It’s a long tournament, taking someone like Woakes out for a couple of games might freshen things up and allow him to come back stronger later on. Of course, there might be pitches where we don’t want to play both Archer and Wood, or where we need an extra spinner, etc... (and Wood will get injured sooner or later anyway).PeterCS wrote:beamer, basil - would you make any changes to the England team vs WIndies?

Actually GOAT has a better JAMODI economy rate than Zampa.
