Re: Rugby League 2019
God the Panthers were awful this arvo.
James Maloney is like the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead. When he's good he's great but on other days, like today, he is woeful.
Congrats to the Slimeys on a good start. Young Dylan Brown looks a great pick up for them.
The Drags are already looking short on forwards after Frizzell blew up a nut. They have the rampant Bunnies next on Thursday night so that'll be 0-2 for 2019.

aaahh ... the Billy PS. What an institution. Have never been sure whether it took years off my life or added to them, as in a bloodyminded way I became determined to outlive at least some of the dickheads.
There was a guy who played thug-lock or thug-back row for the Nags who for me came to symbolise the worst of the Bills. Gordon Tallis was his name. He got paraded around by the Head of my Department one day. A mate ducked for cover as Gordon and a few of his Nag mates had wanted to bash this colleague a couple of weeks before because my mate was thin, scrawny, just 178cm and dressed in a manner they may have thought eccentric.
The Head of my Department was the object lesson in why the virtue of being a medical doctor does not necessarily qualify one to run a massive Health Department.

I think that 2nd half (28-4 to the Bunnies) might sum up the Drags' 2019.
Either the Rabbits are genuine premiership threats or St George are morals for the Spoon.

Re: Rugby League 2019
Well, I saved myself some grief by not watching the inevitable 2nd half. The Messiah is far too smart to not turn the Bunnies around after half time.
Was "watching" on mobile via "NRL scores". Bunnies levelled scores after 4 mins of 2nd half then ran away. Interweb saved me from viewing heartache.

Re: Rugby League 2019
Early days in the 2019 comp but at this stage it looks like a race in 3 between the Drags, the Dogs (currently being torn a new arsehole by the Slimeys) and the Tits for the Spoon.
Hopefully the Coastal Filth gives them all a run for their money.

Re: Rugby League 2019
After the inevitable loss to the Nags this Thursday night, the Drags will be in a world of hurt comp wise.
I'm calling it. The purchase of Corey Norman has badly unbalanced the backline. Widdop isn't happy at fullback and the Red V misses his play-making skills at 5/8. It took him all last season to get his partnership with Hunt sorted. Now Hunt has to start all over again with Norman.
We also miss the pace and injection of Dufty.
Sorry Mary, you've got it all wrong.

GAE, mum, her brothers (two Irish FFS) and assorted hangers on all mad red V fans, and the same farking result year after year growing up. TF Dad took me away for most parts of the season and banned the discussion of league in his presence. I was beginning to foam at the mouth every time I heard the term grand final.
But regardless whatever the broncs current record I think the saints are gone.

Joey agrees with me
"The Dragons are making a $1 million mistake playing Gareth Widdop at fullback and must return him to five-eighth before it’s too late, Andrew Johns says.
Johns’ call would mean dropping big-name recruit Corey Norman out of the side.
St George Illawarra is winless through two rounds, suffering defeats against the Cowboys and Rabbitohs. Coach Paul McGregor took a gamble by moving Widdop, a $1 million per season star, to No.1; a move that allowed Norman to fit into the side at No.6.
Speaking on Freddy and the Eighth, Johns said that it wasn’t too early to have serious concerns about the Dragons.
“No, I don’t think so – it’s just not working,” Johns said.
“Gareth Widdop last year was the best player in the competition for the opening three or four months of the year, led the Dally Ms, they were on top of the table on the back of Widdop’s form, and the forwards’ form.
“I’d be putting [Matt] Dufty straight back to fullback, I’d be putting [Ben] Hunt to halfback, Widdop to five-eighth, [Cameron] McInnes at hooker. Some tough decisions have to be made there.”
Brad Fittler agreed: “Widdop’s got to move to five-eighth.”"
------------------------------------------------
Mary will pig-headedly disagree and ignore the advice.

Re: Rugby League 2019
Did he ever play fullback? I only ask because they're both specialised positions but normally the progression is only one way and it ain't that way.

Basically no. He had a game here and there at fullback in his younger days, but he sees himself as a specialist 5/8 who has to learn the new position.
All because of the purchase of Corey Norman. [sigh]

List management is probably more important than coaching. Ask the Broncos. They've been wayward since their core group of gurus in that department retired or died.

He played a bit of fullback at the Storm when Slater was injured I think.

Bugger me, the Drags got up!!
Was watching a movie (I had little confidence the Drags could compete) and it ended 4 minutes before full time. Saw the last 2 sets of 6 tackles including Norman's field goal. LOL.

Re: Rugby League 2019
Well at least the Drags "spine" problem has been clarified with Widdop popping his shoulder - again.
Dufty will come back and hopefully Hunt + Norman is gelling.
Drags face the Nits in Newcastle next Sunday.
