Re: AT Canine XI (pp Lord Lardbucket)
It's all very well citing Nayan (or Dinesh) Mongrelia - but that place has to be taken by S Warne, surely?
Lots of Kenneths/Kens that could be Kennels - but let's sidestep that one.
James Pattingson
Or - even better (for the dog) - Pat "Patto" Patterson ...
Somewhere, for 12th man duties, the solid county pro Keith Barker deserves a nomination, surely? When you don't even have to force his name through hoops to get there.
Lassieth Malinga
(As Trike has found with Geo Duckworth, some cricketers seem to slip - the leash? - into one AT XI after another ...
Lasith Malinga: available also for AT Drinks XI, AT Lazy XI ...)

Always have to find a place for Jack Crapp in these teams... dogs like to do that, don’t they?

Hubert Bassett (pre WW1) is a little obscure, so let’s have this match at the St Kitts and Nevis ground in Basseterre.

Darrell Hair as umpire, at the other end to Shep...
Harsh.
So does every living animal.
And if a dog's doo-doo is done in the wrong place - or of execrable quality - blame not the poor dog, but the neglectful handlers.
PS: Crapp also became an umpire (where I first heard of him, in fact), so he might be better checking the TV replays for Hair & Shep - if his old eyes are still up to these new-fangled baaasterdin' things.
There is a story about a time he was sharing a room on tour with one of the Bedser twins. Returning to the hotel late one night, probably slightly worse for wear, he approached reception to ask for his key. Now the touring England team were reported widely in the newspapers, and were recognisable to many people, so [when] the receptionist, asked: "Bed, sir?" Jack replied, "No, Crapp", only for the receptionist to point him to the gents. (wiki)

Warren Barksley - who knows of him?
Tillkaratne Dilchien (yet again - see observation on Malinga, above ...)
A Scot - or fan of Pixar movies - would not even have to remove the "-U-" from the canine qualification criteria (err basically, the name) of guys like:
Doug Insole
Douglas Jardine
JWHT Douglas ...

Crapp is a member of the “appropriately named umpires” team, along with Ashocker de Silva, Simon T. Awful (to be fair, he generally wasn’t) and “Howler” Howell, among others no doubt...
