Apparently * the much loved stadium is to be completely demolished in 2025 and rebuilt as an Olympics site…

QLD Govt to pay QCA and the Brions compo. No alternative facility identified while construction happens. QLD may lose Tests for a few years.

I really like the Gabba as a spectator both for cricket and footy

Very sad. Have had many day 1 Gabba experiences since the early 1980’s, am lined up for day 1 in early 2024 and will definitely do the whole match at the end of next year if that is to be the Gabba’s swan song.

Loved the ground in the 80’s when we used to lie around on the grass; in recent years views have been from a box or in the Grandstand at ‘straight hit’ and that’s been fantastic. Many memories from games there (and high jinks afterwards)

My mind may be playing tricks but I am convinced I went to the Gabba for a Shield game in the very early 60s when it still had the dog track?

Living in Brisbane in the 90s Id regularly go there for cricket and footy. I loved the joint.

Clem got rid of the dog track in the early 70s. Perhaps 72? Wally will know.

I lived there 89-91 inclusive; my main Gabba memory from that period was the Ashes Test of 90-91 where Reid and Matthews

Looks like Chuckles Miles is going to reverse the "Massive Gabba Upgrade for the Olympics" decision of lightweight Palasuck.

Not at this stage, Nath, just not spending the originally-intended gazillion on the Gabba.
