New ICC batting and bowling rankings.
Batsman:
Bowlers:
They were updated after the first India-SA Test. HTF is Shoaib 9th? I can't even remember the last time he played in a Test.
Steyn should go top after the next update and his 5-for vs India is taken into account. Unless Murali takes something like a 10-for against the Windies.
Vaas has done well to still be in the top ten at his age. Bell at 19! He'll be top someday.

Re: New ICC batting and bowling rankings.
Ian Bell the 19th best batsman in the world. Only 18 other batsmen in the entire world can claim to be his better. What say you now Bell nay sayers?
A good summer and he'll be officially better than Tendulkar.
Ooh and Fleming's just retired so he's really the 18th best batsman in the world now. Only 17 batsmen in the entire world can claim to be his better.
A blinding summer and he'll be officially better than all the Indian run whores. Oh yes.

Re: New ICC batting and bowling rankings.
Amazing that England, who get bowled out for under 200 more than any side who isn't Bangladesh, should have four batsmen in the top twenty.
I guess it shows that the calculations that go into making up the rankings are as obsessed with "averages just over 40" every bit as much as England's "elite" are...

Only 3 Aussies in the top 10 and only 4 in the top 20. Is that the lowest Aussie total for a while?

I noticed that, only three in the top 6. It's poor, isn't it.
Gilly's retirement (not yet replaced by Haddin) does make it tough to get more than 6 in.

Hussey should be 1 in the next rankings unless Sanga gets a matchwinning ton in the second dig.

Re: New ICC batting and bowling rankings.
Steyn probably would have gone to the top of the bowling rankings after the just completed Ahmedabad test, but Murali got a 5 fer against the Windies a few hours later which should keep him at the top for a while. Hussey and Kallis should go 1-2 in the batting rankings.

Re: New ICC batting and bowling rankings.
Steyne is equal 1 with Murali.
Hussey goes to 1 in the batting. Kallis equal 2nd with Ponting and Sanga drops to 4th.
Graeme Smith now ahead of a fading Dravid.

The biggest farce is that Shane Bond and Shoaib Akhtar are still in the top 10 of the bowling rankings.

How is Bell ahead of Laxman and Symonds in the rankings?
And more importantly Flintoff is only 2 places behind MPV at 37???? These rankings are pony!
Players who haven't played for 12 months plus are still in the top 20?!!

Re: New ICC batting and bowling rankings.
Shoaib and Bond are still in top ten because you loose points when you play and dont perform or when your team plays and you are not in the playing eleven
With Pakistan and newzealand not playing many test matches they are not likly to loose many points

Corey Collymore at number 12? The guy cant even dismiss anyone in our domestic tournament let alone World Class batsman.
After our series with Australia Jerome Taylor will be close to the top 10 IMO.
