Aye, he must be well into his fourth large port n brandy to spoof us with that syrupy BS about England being a "good team with a resurgent Freddie" ...

By the way, when i said in my post that there would be talk about bringing the team togather i didn't say i agreed with it.
I still expect Aus to win the Ashes.

I surmise Ian Bell would make a much better captain than he would do a Test batsman. Still, considering how pathetic he is as a Test batsman, it's no surprise I feel that way.

Re: Pietersen Resigns
Boycs seems to be the only one dumping on the ECB over this mess.
Most of the other paid hacks, pros, ex pros, pundits, priests, players and scumbags seem to lob it squarely on Pietersen for being the cock who made it all public (in his rag column) then buggering off on safari immediately after leaving things in a mess back here.
Allen Lamb's was the most scathing - basically asking WTF was KP expecting ... a hero'swelcome ?!
Interesting reactions.

Well, I have to admit to have had the odd tidy red by this stage of the night. But England seemed to be settling on a squad while Aus are chopping and changing due to form and injury.Merlin wrote:Aye, he must be well into his fourth large port n brandy to spoof us with that syrupy BS about England being a "good team with a resurgent Freddie" ...

I thought the odds seemed to be favouring England at this juncture, until this KP/Moores upheaval.

Am I the only one who at least admires KP for calling a worthless qunt a worthless qunt?
Re: Pietersen Resigns
Saying 'why' may have been better rather than just calling him out as a qunt.

Not at all.
Am I the only one who at least admires KP for calling a worthless qunt a worthless qunt?
But to broadcast it in public in his column and then farque off 4,000 miles away into the bush was probably asking for trouble.
No one's denying Moores was a useless twat at doing his job!
But I reckon he is a decent bloke (he backed KP for the captaincy, thru the Stanford fiasco and post- Mumbai) and KP misjudged the sentiment and support for him ...

Aye, no doubt KP is a superdick and no doubt he should've kept his gob shut. It's just some if the posts over the last couple of pages seem a little strange.
I'm just glad Moores is out, KP or no KP.
Re: Pietersen Resigns
I'm just worried who we'll get in his place now...

FWIW, I think KP would have made a very good captain if he was given control.

Strauss is giving a conference at 3.
He's looking very trim, isn't he.

Personally, and this isn't knee-jerk, I don't think it could be much worse. F*cking stupid selections, no visible input in tactics(unimaginative at best, they were) and a general cronyism continued from the Fletcher era.... hardly that someone else could suddenly 'ruin' us.
Re: Pietersen Resigns
Gilo?
Got to agree with the style of cricket we've been playing though - been terrible given the style with which we played for 3 or 4 years.

Well, yeah, but to most extents he's just Peter Moores II. Apart from we'd be seeing the likes of Jon Trott rather than Luke Sussex... hardly worse off. Then there's Ian Bell, who gets in automatically anyway so.... hardly worse off again.
TBH, after the mini-furore after Moores was appointed it's doubtful we'll get anyone but a big name.
Re: Pietersen Resigns
Aggers makes a good point. Whilst some Aussies are sniggering, he think it was potentially a good thing...
"The Board were very angry that this had been put into the public domain but I'd say thank goodness it was," he added.
"If it hadn't come out now what would the impact have been had it come out in April or May, with the Ashes just around the corner? It would have been an absolute disaster for English cricket.
"Now they have got time to put things in place, get a new captain and go out and find a good new coach.

Couldn't agree more.
Getting rid of Mooronic alone was worth just about any price.
If nothing else, the KP captaincy will always have that gold star as its brightly burning legacy.

Totally agree. Pity they made Strauss cappo, because Bell will make a fine English captain.
I think he should now be made VC so that he can grow under Strauss' leadership.
I have respect for Bell's sometimes reasonable efforts with the bat but he hardly appears leadership material.
I can think of a number of our English comrades who will PTSL at your post.
Taking the piss? Who? Me?
I'll have you know that Ian Bell is a fine figure of a man, a wonderful batsman with the potential of offering Churchillian leadership in these troubled times.

I'd call it Schadenfreude meself.
That glee and delight at embarrassing hijinks and displays of pure incompetence in a cricket establishment that's not mine.
Bell for Fearless Leader.

No Merlin, I simply worship at the altar of Bell's potential.
Besides which, think of the fun if he were to be made captain.
