Massive ratings for nine
T20 obviously here to stay.
1.9 million were watching and the ratings guy said this will likely put it in the top twenty programs for the year.

Which says an awful lot about the rest of the shitty TV programming we're bombarded with through the year.

It was fun enough. But the sh!te on the other channels certainly didn't do Channel Warthog any harm.

So less than 10%. Doesn't seem particularly high to me.

You have to put it in the context of what other sporting events and shows usually rate.
And then consider that babies, toddlers are out of the equation, people on holidays, people out not having access to a tv etc.

Re: Massive ratings for nine
I think the ratings agencies underestimate figures for sporting events like this.
Plenty of people watch it in pubs where it's hard for the agencies to know how many people are watching.
I went round to a mate's place to watch it and there would have been ten of us there.
If he doesn't have a people-metre it means nothing.

They measure the viewers by length?

Of course Nien wouldn't put the Cricket on when they were in the ratings period, just look at the way they shaft the Ashes and tours to Windies etc.

And believe it or not, not everyone watches TV all the time. The total for prime time is usually about 7 million, so this represents something like a 30% market share.

According to today's newspapers, the figure was 2.1, no 1.9 mil.

Nein had the Underarm Wanker series brought forward to the end of ratings period a couple of years ago ...other than that they cant do much about when the Oz summer is ...and when the ratings period is ...
and they know non cricket fans will only watch JAMODIs at night and dont want to miss CSI
The reason that SBS has the Ashes cricket is because 7 , 9 and 10 know it will stuff up their normal watchers' routines and they cant show it on their "second" channels only
