Throw them in or wait?
Consider the following facts
1- You have a young fast bowler(about 17-18 ) who is running through sides at the domestic level.
2- Domestic cricket is rubbish and the player would almost certainly regress if he is stays there for too long.
3- The player is a bit injury prone and probably won't be able to play 2 or 3 consecutive series with out breaking down.
So what do you do? take a chance and play him or leave him in an environment where of spare tires which will cause him to regress.

It's a difficult one. I would put my faith in a youngster if they have performed for at least 10 matches in domestic cricket, no matter how young they are.
West Indies have a similar dilemma with Adrian Barath, who is tearing it up in FC cricket, but is only 18. So far the selectors have decided to leave him in domestic cricket, but he is kicking the door down and will have to be selected.

Get him a Pakistani "birth certificate" and let him mature for 4 or 5 years before making his debut at 17 years 129 days . . .

yeah the last thing you want is for them to get injured WHILE playing domestic cricket...
The strategy of throwing fast bowlers in to test cricket with out much(or any) domestic cricket sometimes works quite well e.g Wasim Akram....but back then they didn't have as much nonsense cricket that they have these days.

Yes fast bowlers are much more likely to be successfully fast-tracked then batsmen (Adrian is an opening batsmen). If they have the raw tools to succeed at the highest level, like pace and each way movement, then they should be in the senior team IMHO.

Re: Throw them in or wait?
pakistanis aren't allowed to play in IPL plus IPL cares too much about TV contracts and won't employ too many cricketers from SL, PAK or WI.OP Tipping wrote:Get him an IPL contract so he can face some good players...

James Harris definitely needs to be given a run in the England Lions Squad. I say throw him in.

You have to throw them in before you can throw them out.

Re: Throw them in or wait?
you have to give them a few games to test them out. e.g. chawla, raina didnt start too well but being in the mix has helped their development as they have something to work towards and they know they're not just rotting away in domestic cricket
