The Good News is...

Some of the more perceptive forumers may have noticed the absence of embee today.

That's because last night, at 9:07pm WA time, the Assassin and The Lady Assassin became the proud parents of their first child.

A baby girl, Annaleigh, weighing in at 3.1 kilograms, and 52 cm in length. Both mother and daughter are well. embee, who I just spoke to, is thrilled by becoming a father, as are the shareholders in alcoholic beverage companies and retailers, given that a fairly extensive head-wetting lunch is well underway.

I'm sure all Flaming Bailers wish them well.

Huzzah!

I am not familiar with the traditional concept of a baby being named immediately on birth. I know it happens in some democratic countries in East and also most western countries. Still, I am more aware of having a naming ceremony [like in Hindus] or a ritual like christening/baptism in some other places.

So whats it like in England and Aus?
