I don't know how satisfying it will be. You better make other plans for the remainder of the evening

If you had to live in a godforsaken hole fighting a war that isn't even yours at the behest of your superiors, whoever those might be, and if you had the memories of a deliciously cool Bavarian Erdinger Weissbier or Weihen Stefan to go with Weisswurst, you'd be drinking beer too at any opportunity you get.Josh Carney wrote:Are Germans the highest Per capita consumners when it comes to alcohol ?
Germans love their beer because they brew the best beer available and if some idiot opposition MP thinks their soldiers are fat and unworthy, maybe he should try facing Pashtuns whose only wish is to ram the barrels of their rifles up a place where the sun doesn't shine.

In Germany, beer is considered part of your food. A large company banned beer being consumed at work and the workers revolted. Suffice to say it was back in there as soon as, and some legislation went in so that companies can no longer do it.

I dunno, I know this German bird who's ripe for a good slamming. Looks like she could take a proper good shunting.

I don't know her, sorry. Still, my internet wanking has gone waaaayy downhill.
Re: Germans, Taliban and beer
I must say this is the first time I've felt some sort of affection for German soldiers.
They are clearly men after my own heart.
Germany does have the best beer in the world, so who could blame them?

The best Pils ("lager") is not German, but Czech.
It goes in German by the name of Pilsner Urquell. Best as draught.

You are right but only beer brewed with the original water (Czech) is entitled to use the word "Urquell", which only means "the original source (of water)".
German Pils is brewed all over Germany with different prefixes, from Schleswig-Holstein (Holsteiner Pils, Hamburg) down to Konstanz (Ruppaner Pils, Bodensee). I'd say Becks is the most known (bottled outside Germany, bottled and draught inside). One of the best Pils, with international renown, is brewed in a place called Warstein (close to Soest, Sauerland), followed closely by Licher Pils (a town close to Gießen), which just proves that the best Beer is not necessarily brewed in Bavaria - unless of course it's a Weißbier.
It's a matter of taste of course, but the internationally marketed Heineken (Dutch), Tuborg (Danish), Stella Artois (Belgian), Budweisser (American), Foster (Australian) are more suited for guzzlers than beer connoisseurs as their alcohol content is usually lower than the Pils. However, that's only my opinion.
