He probably shit himself on the cross though. Let's face it, being strung up for a couple of days is going to see you wish for "huggies".

You know what they say about blasphemy - that it's a victimless crime.

He may not have existed.

Pretty sure he existed. Just had a God complex, or his Mum decided boosting him was preferable to admitting she was raped,

Well it's a rip off of something but "Saturnalia". Unless you include the 'washing of the feet'.

It was all about persuading the Romans to adopt Christianity as the state religion, and they were reluctant to let go of their mid-winter party. So Constantine simply appropriated it and called it Christmas.

Yeah I know that. Saturnalia is stretch though.

Not really. Early Christians never celebrated Christmas. It's not the customs of Saturnalia that are Christmas, it's the timing.

What like 200 years before Christ? Relax I know where you're coming from. If I didn't love money so much I'd have spent my whole life trying to finf the body. That would've at least killed the Catholic Church.

No, no - several hundred years after Christ. Christmas is a Roman invention really, hence the tie in to Saturnalia. The Jews didn't celebrate birthdays anyway back then, so the idea of celebrating Christ's birthday wouldn't make sense.

However, given that the whole story of the nativity is historically impossible anyway, it's not an issue!

Saturnalia was a Roman tradition long before Christ. And again I know about the historical blumps. Even Matthew and Luke couldn't agree on Christ's family tree. Though how you could have one when you're popped into Mummy's tummy is beyond me.
