Curry flavour to stamp out racism

Thousands of people have signed up to eat at Indian restaurants across the country as part of a peaceful protest against racism.
The organiser of Vindaloo Against Violence, Mia Northrop, says she hopes today's event will demonstrate to local ethnic communities that Australians do not tolerate racism.
Over 16,000 people have signed up for the event, which started following a spate of violence against Indians in Victoria.
Ms Northrop says see wanted to create an event for all Australians.
"I wanted a way to get the silent majority of people who wouldn't necessarily go to protest or marches to have their voice heard on it," she said.
"I know the majority of Australians don't tolerate racism and they don't tolerate racially- motivated violence."
The Victoria Police Chief Commissioner, Simon Overland has praised the event.
"They've taken some initiative, they've acted and I think the community here and around the world has just responded tremendously," he said.

Looks like the paradigm is moving from Anger / Denial to Acceptance / Action. Good to see.

May be if the attacks didn't happen in the first place...then the "good guys" don't have to come into action.

Anyhow, this sure is a positive step for both sides.

"We'll come to your restaurants and eat your curries."

Maybe I'm being cynical but it it seems a tad patronising to me, hopefully it's not but....

Vindaloo Against Violence,....... Mia Northrop,

PMSL.
Cynical, Patronising ... call it what you want.

And being a born cynic, I have to ask ..... What's Mia Northrop's rake-off on this little scam?
At say $ 20 per head ...and with a minimum 16,000 signatures .... That's Aus$ 320,000 ... so a mere 10 percent would net her a tidy 32,000 bucks. Go figure .... and Nice work if you can get it!

Anyway if ever there was a paradox, then Vindaloo Against Violence is it.
Ever stood in a room or on the Tube or in a confined space when a stranger has dropped a post-vindaloo fart ?
Yeah well - "against" violence would not be my first reaction, that's for certain ...

Provided there was no follow-through, they could count themselves fortunate.

They didn't have to endure the gripes.

Laughing Oh dear. Well, they were probably all Brummies - their city smells like that anyway. They probably got a tinge of nostalgia. Or nostralgia, maybe.

After spending an extensive amount of time there, I still can't differentiate. Think it must be the same thing.
