Strange Justice in Iran

Would anyone seriously claim that this primitive sort of state retribution has any place in any country, jurisdiction or religion? And that, even if the defendant is found guilty by any demonstrable and balanced due process of justice?

Would anyone claim that this is in any sense "the Islamic way"?

Or other than a badge of shame for a judicial system?
