I see you've missed the point entirely, Zimmy. Well done.
Poms, Saffies, Windies, Kiwis and company all refer to one country (or, in the case of the West Indies, the banner those combined countries compete under).
Using "subis" as a one-name-fits-all for Indians, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Sri Lankans is not the same thing at all.

As an Englishman living in Aus, I get called a Pom now and then. I don't really like it, but i'm not overly offended by it either. I'm not one of those pussy Englishmen who refers to his own countrymen as "Pom's" just to improve their prospects of getting Aussie d*ck like Mark Nicholas and Peter Roebuck do.
