I know this was probably a joke but yes as a West Indian the word Windies is acceptable. I actually usually shorten it to WI. But that said if people from the subcontinent have a problem with the use of the word 'subis' then I think we should respect their views and not use it.

I'd be happy to accept that if they could supply us with a short term (similar to Aussies, Kiwis, Saffies, Poms, etc.) to use instead of "Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans" when referring to players from the subcontinent in general. We could use "subcontinentals", but that rather sounds like describing people who only crap themselves little by little, as opposed to full-blown incontinentals.
