Some might think that with discussion comes understanding, but apparently we are not allowed to discuss it.

some might think that the phrase 'dont have the right to control the discussion' means you can discuss but you shouldnt try to lay down the law
but what would i know?

Thanks for the reply ETG - but I'm not sure why I was the target for your anger. Agree with me or not as you will - my point stands on its own merits. Abortion on demand was never intended as a lifestyle choice, and I doubt more than a handful of the early advocates foresaw anybody ever having more than one (maybe two at the most.) My point was merely noting a change of attitude by Jane Roe from "pro-choice" to "pro life" over the years. I didn't express a personal view on it, so I've no idea why you should accuse me of trying to control other peoples lives, or trying to lay down the law.
I'm sure for the majority of women, a termination is the most difficult, traumatic decision they'll ever make. For a few, obviously not. If it were that dreadful, why on earth would some women have so many?
You're absolutely right - women don't wake up thinking " I'm bored etc etc" as you quoted. However, plenty of them do finish work on Friday night, go home, get changed and half cut before going to a cheap bar. Come 10 o'clock, they don't even know what year it is let alone the day of the week. That situation of getting deliberately so drunk is a conscious decision, made possible by the knowledge that a pregnancy doesn't have to be the life-changing event it used to be.
With regards to your final paragraph regarding ethics, etc ....... again - I've never stated a view on it, so you've actually no idea what I think. That said, I do find your language interesting. I've never before heard anyone refer to a growing baby as a parasite, but you're not the first to use the expression "they're not humans" or words to that effect. For sure, in the womb they are not independent living people - but human beings ? Halfway through a pregnancy they certainly look like tiny humans.
Finally - I do have a ******* life, thanks.

Rave all you like for me, h. All I'd say from a personal POV is just don't attack anyone for something they haven't actually said.
That was my issue with ETG's response to my post, hence the narky reply.

They might be offensive, but they are not necessarily misogynistic, which was my starting point.

Abortion is legal in Victoria but it is still difficult in country areas for women. The catholic crew run hospitals in major regional centres. Doctors performing abortions elsewhere cannot get sessions at their hospitals.
Personally I support the right to choose both of fertility and euthanasia
Ethics? The Gall! wrote:not necessarilytaipan wrote:Actually was thinking thinking about about how many women are anti abortion. Of course they are also misogynistic.Ethics? The Gall! wrote:true. you just have to think that you have the ****** right to dictate to women what happens to their bodies
they just think they have the ****** right to dictate to other women what happens to their bodies
theres a simple solution for people who are against abortion. dont have one
noone claims its an ideal method of birth control but it has to remain as an option for women. all women in all situations. its about human rights and bodily autonomy
Yo baby

Vanity, the one-time protege of Prince, has died at 57, mainly due to the effects on her body of long term crack abuse.
Geez, we are very skinny in the celebrity death department lately.

but weve been doing that since the year dot without having to worry about the implications. double standard much that men can while women apparently cant. or maybe you mean shouldnt?Growler wrote:You're absolutely right - women don't wake up thinking " I'm bored etc etc" as you quoted. seriously what is the problem with women being able to be as irresponsible as men? how about suggesting that that sort of drinking culture is ****** stupid for everyone rather than just being oh so unladylike
it takes two to make a pregnancy. only one has to endure the entire process and the sometimes lifelong consequences so only that one has the right to decide whether it goes ahead
as for what a half term foetus looks like...abortions except in extreme medical cases are almost always performed within the first trimester
in a purely scientific sense the term parasite is not inaccurate
nothing personal intended in my remarks. and no anger either. i cant help your perceptions or interpretations of what i said
and to drag the discussion back into line with the threads purpose...Antonin #Scalia requested cremation in his will, but millions of women will meet tomorrow to discuss if that's really best for his body.
