39.2 Mendis to Sehwag, FOUR, full and just outside the off stump and Sehwag cracks it through the cover region
39.3 Mendis to Sehwag, FOUR, short delivery and Sehwag had all the time to go back and crash it through covers
39.4 Mendis to Sehwag, 1 run, slower, the off break on the middle stump line, Sehwag works it through midwicket
Nice work Veeru.

It looks that VVS will be dismissed anytime now.

Typical Sehwag. From irresponsible moron to destructive genius in the space of two innings.

Veeru desperately needs to hog the strike at the moment.

41.3 Mendis to Sehwag, FOUR, superb shot. Sehwag charged down the track and creamed a googly, from round the stumps, past the umpire. That one was travelling.
Yes Veeru, yes!

For a bloke who gets so much grief for being an FTB, Sehwags got a greta record for an opener.
Ave 50 away 54 at home (but played more tests away)
And has very healthy averages against everyone bar England, NZ and Bangles, arguably three of the poorer sides in Test cricket.
Fair play to him.

And he's so great to watch. Even if he's snotting your team all over the park, you still feel in with a chance of a wicket.

Exactly, a run a ball century everytime, and just such a great eye, and some ridiculously outrageous shots!!
You have to say that when he's in full flow he is genius!!

He's no FTB, he's just very reliant on eye and luck. Technique is . . . well, what technique, really?
skully's right, though - he's great to watch, even if it's your own bowling he's flailing.

Meh. An average of 50+ after 50 odd tests requires more than luck. Eye and luck? You could say the same about Viv richards and Adam Gilchrist.

Sod the technique. His technique may be differnet from the MCC coaching manual, but it sure as hell works with what is a very good eye!!!!
People tend to get too involved in coaching technique and actually whatever works, works.
Some dude in our league bats right handed with his hands the wrong way round. Scored 5 100's last year. Its farking ridiculous to watch, but works.
Anyway, great to watch in full flow!!

No, Gilchrist actually had a pretty solid technique.Henry wrote:Meh. An average of 50+ after 50 odd tests requires more than luck. Eye and luck? You could say the same about Viv richards and Adam Gilchrist.
'Tis true, though, that they're the same in one thing - if their eye's in and they get set, you're in for it.

Re: Sri Lanka v India, 2nd Test, Galle, July 31st July - 4th Aug
A quick look at scorecard and a disaster seems to have hit middle order again. Gangles and Dravid's test future looking increasingly close to the end now, especially Dravid. Sachin being Sachin will never be axed unless he decides to call it in.
Would it be too much to ask for a Viru special 200, a classy Laxman 100, and a couple of decent 50s off Karthick and Kumble? It isn't impossible. Especially Karthick and Kumble They have all done it before. A 500 score is still not impossible if the Laxman, Viru, Karthick and Kumble all dig in and they have displayed this a lot in the recent past.

India's big three must be feeling pretty small right now. I think Dravid is done. Gangles in any case is always going to be one series from dropping.
