Re: Happy Birthday furry and horrie
A belated happy birthday to you Furri..I hope you had a great day and have an enjoyable year ahead....seems the inevitable win in the 2nd test is a good start for your year..nice to share Libran times with you and the Skullywag
thank you very much to all the well wishers...of course I will treasure the new asterisks sent to me and keep them in my rather burgeoning scrapbook collection - I now have almost a wall of such stars...cannot imagine why..

Re: Happy Birthday furry and horrie
And the same to you horrie.
BTW we don't share just the month, but even the date 16/10.
You, me, Eugene O'Neill and, erm, Oscar Wilde.
From wikipedia, re October 16:
* 456 - Magister militum Ricimer defeats Emperor Avitus at Piacenza and becomes master of the western Roman Empire (brings back memories, eh?)
* 1775 - Portland, Maine is burned by the British.
* 1781 - George Washington captures Yorktown, Virginia after the Siege of Yorktown.
* 1793 - Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI, is guillotined at the height of the French Revolution.
* 1859 - John Brown leads a raid on Harper's Ferry, West Virginia
* 1934 - Chinese Communists begin the Long March
* 1939 - World War II: First attack on British territory by the German Luftwaffe.
* 1946 - Nuremberg Trials: Execution of the convicted Nazi leaders of the Main Trial.
* 1951 - The first Prime Minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan, is assassinated in Rawalpindi.
* 1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis between the United States and Cuba begins.
* 1964 - The People's Republic of China detonates its first nuclear weapon.
* 1968 - United States athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos are kicked out of the USA's team for performing a Black Power salute during a medal ceremony.
So, death, disaster and hangings. Cheerful.

thanx for that Furri...marie a copped her just desserts...the long march constituted the start of a great victory for humanity...cuba has survived against the odds...Smith, Carlos (peter norman, the Oz guy who came 2nd and supported the other two) made genuine contributions to the civil rights movement.
so there are some good things about 16/10

Re: Happy Birthday furry and horrie
It would seem the best thing about 16/10 is the Nazi rope dance. Closely followed by the Aussie silver medalist whos' time in "68 would've guaranteed him a place in the Beiijing track team. (It's still the national record isn't it).

Furry and Horrie...have a great one together [Feel sorry for the hotel manager though...]
Happy Birthday to you both. Just avoid a romp together in the room after getting drunk....
