England's seamers are getting more out of this pitch, probably because they're hitting the deck harder.

2nded.

Although I'm with Bas. England's seamers are hitting the pitch harder than the Wackie soft-cocks but it's still a flat flat deck. It's hard not to suspect that JtB is in the house.

Anywho, with Pak at 6-115, England should cruise home from here.

Congrats to Brooks on his triple.

152/6 at the close. If it hadn't have been for the 4 dropped catches, the match would already be done and dusted.

Root has another 5 tests this year and needs 715 runs to leapfrog into second place in the test runscorers list. Anyone betting against?

Big scores aside quite a lot of fielding errors. they had to get masood out 3 times. England bowled a lot straighter in the 2nd and were helped by pak tiredness and mistakes, but seeing that most of the team been sat in the pavillion for 2 days their fielding was a surprise. Bash has had a poor game and again dropped an easy 1 off off carse, did the same against SL. I thought abrar might be the doghouse, but apparently hes ill and why he didnt bowl today. But for those dropped catches they might have won today.

He may not get there if the opposition is so weak he only gets to bat once in every Test …

Anyway, congrats to Harry Brook. I wonder if that's the quickest ever triple ton in tests?

Sehwag did a faster one, otherwise yes.

But batting no 3 he can still bat as long as he wants without getting declared on. Negligible consideration I'dathunk.

So exactly how far ahead of the pack is this match in the 'highest single innings to be part of a loss by an innings' stakes?

Previous highest innings loss score was by Ireland v Sri Lanka at Galle in April 2023. They made 492 and lost by an innings and 10 runs.

Of the top sides the highest was England's 477 v India at Chennai in Dec 2016. They lost by an innings and 75 runs.

So Pakistan's 556 is truly in a league of it's own. Pakistan are now 9th in the Test Championship. Abject.

odd thing is that each time a team has scored 556 this milennium, theyve lost, this match, bdesh in 2012 and Oz in 2003. So if england score 556 in the next, its 1-1.

just when i thought i'd discovered something myself, its been pointed out to me that actually oz have made 556 on 3 other occasions winning twice and 1 draw,
but they declared each time. So its only if you get dismissed for 556 the hex works.

I don't bat for the other side like most of you, old man. I'm straighter than straight ya codger! You're the lgbtqia+ (insert this week's letter) supporter not me. Your bum chums on here will correct you. If you ask nicely.
Thanks for your caring comment though. Yes i and some good friends spent a nice hour yesterday talking to people who know my first sport, rugby union as well as cricket. Played the game of 15 for a very long time, flattening weeds like you and Horace on a regular basis.
