West Indies central contracts 2010/11
Some very interesting choices have come about as a result of Gayle, Bravo and Pollard turning down central contracts and Sarwan not even being offered one (madness). This list gives an insight into the way selectors see things which is interesting but also worrying (Sammy has a higher contract rating than Nash).
Central Contracts
1. Shivnarine Chanderpaul – A
2. Sulieman Benn – B
3. Darren Sammy – B
4. Kemar Roach – C
5. Brendan Nash – C
6. Adrian Barath – C
7. Darren Bravo – C
8. Shane Shillingford – C
9. Nikita Miller – C
10. Devon Smith – C
11. Ravi Rampaul – C
12. Nelon Pascal – C
13. David Bernard Jr – C
14. Andre Russell – C
15. Carlton Baugh Jr – C
Development Contracts
1. Kirk Edwards
2. Gavin Tonge
3. Andre Fletcher
4. Chadwick Walton
5. Devendra Bishoo
6. Assad Fudadin
7. Imran Khan
8. Kevin Stoute
So Calton Baugh Jr is clearly about to get another run as West Indies wicket keeper after all Ramdin's failures. I wonder how it will go this time? How Devon Smith got a central contract I shall never know. He is clearly the Mark Ramprakash of West Indies cricket.

Sarwan not even being offered one (madness).
Sarwan had been unfit and disinterested for a while. Maybe not getting a contract could be the kick up the backside he needs. Don't worry, he'll still be one of the first players picked (if fit).
Looking at the development contracts, what's happened to the young batsmen (can't remember his name) who made stacks of runs at the under 19 world cup in New Zealand and was in the test squad a year or so ago? Has he fallen off the radar completely?

Kraig Braithwaite (spelling?) That's it.
I thought he was the best young batsman in the Caribbean?

He is, but he is also only 17 years old. He was in the test squad as a result of the strike. He will be playing A team cricket for a little while yet.
As for Sarwan, he has been our best batsman over the last 18 months and his fitness levels are actually up after the injury he received in Australia. The fact he happens to be an influential member of the WIPA has an awful lot more to do with it then fitness.
