RICKY PONTING has kicked off the pre-Ashes war of words by claiming that Kevin Pietersen is England's weak link.

And the Australian captain believes Andrew Strauss' side have more than one batting problem.England go into this winter's battle with many pundits claiming this squad can become the first since Mike Gatting's in 1986-87 to beat the Aussies on their own patch.But Ponting sniped: "Pietersen is a big question mark and Alastair Cook is only holding on to his spot by the skin of his teeth."Paul Collingwood has not had the best Test summer of his life either.

Lol. Ponting's always been terrified of Pietersen. Now he's trying to play mind games. Too bad his mind games are even worse than his captaincy. What a moron. I don't get why he spends his time worrying about opposition batsmen though. He should worry about his hair and his hair. Oh, and his hair.

Seems to me the Australian captain jabbing Pietersen's pride/provoking his anger is more likely to backfire than to benefit us.

But when has Ponting ever been wrong as captain?
