SA in deep trouble here with Amla gone. Mind you they're usually one down before they start with sooky against Khan. You'd think he'd either find a way of combating him or stand down against India.
This could be the matchwinning toss for Dhoni unless the middle-order can build given how weak their tail is and the fact that their bowlers will be bowling with the sun out.

3/125 at tea. India is on top but much depends on this partnership between AB and Kallis.

Sree bowling really well, he got ABD and could have had Kallis there as well

India's attack looks fairly good to me, there may a lack of depth but the 4 bowlers on the show aren't bad at all.

Scoreline doesn't quite reflect how well the seamers bowled.
Credits due to Kallis too, he has been uncharacteristically gutsy.

Has the rule changed? I thought you could only add on 30 minutes at the end of the day.

If SA gets 400+, could be difficult on the last couple of days.

Taufeeq Umar averages over 60 against SA, that doesn't mean he is a top class player

That was a bit of a masterclass from Kallis on a pitch that was doing a bit all day.

Re: South Africa v India, 3rd Test, Cape Town, 2-6 Jan, 2011
SA would be slightly happier because they only lost four wickets and have built a platform after being sent in in difficult batting conditions. Still the new ball is around the corner and SA has a long tail so India is still in it. Excellent fighting innings from Kallis demonstrating his sound technique. I think Duminy will ultimately be an excellent test batsman; dropping him will make him hungrier. Prince at 33 won't return if he's dropped again.
At least SA may not have to bat last now given that the pitch is meant to turn a lot on days four-five but Harris shouldn't pose too many threats for the Indians.
Sree thanked Sooky for inspiring revving him up.

Prince is South Africa's Paul Collingwood. His grittiness under pressure is often underrated by everyone except his coaches and teammates. He's got a couple of years left in him yet.
