Good description of dazzler.Anyone who doesn't think that SA and India are the top teams in test cricket are two bricks short of a full load.

elsewhere some ppers are going nuts at Gould not giving Tendulkar out when he edged Steyn to Boucher.

Be fair SG, I don't think he said anything like that. Just that England can beat India 'any day of the week'. I don't think translated from 'Yorkshire' to 'English' that means he thinks England would beat India every time they played them. Just that they're capable of winning the home series.
I agree with him too, I don't fear any of the sides in world cricket. They're all very beatable in any given game.

So, Tendulkar hit it then?

He definitely hit that. Absolutely no question about that. Just that was a bumped catch. Even though I think Gould erred in probably not hearing the nick. IMHO he gave it not out due to it being non nick rather than Boucher claiming the bump catch.
Not for a moment I'm accusing Boucher of claiming a false catch. These catches are so hard for everyone.

OK, thanks for that. So, Gunner got it right for the wrong reason then!

I wasn't implying that. IMO there is no runaway best team in world right now, like Aussies and WI of old days. Every team is beatable in any given conditions.JKLever wrote:Be fair SG, I don't think he said anything like that. Just that England can beat India 'any day of the week'. I mentioned him because IIRC he also said that Eng are the best team in world. What do you've to say about that.

At least he got it right. We couldn't have asked for more. BTW why is he called gunner?Basil wrote:SG wrote:He definitely hit that. Absolutely no question about that. Just that was a bumped catch. Good to see that top-4 teams locked in very interesting battles in the purest form of cricket.
Take that, T20.

Could be an historic week for Test cricket if both India and England can notch up vital victories. Either are possible at this stage.

It's a nickname going back to his playing days.

The ball swung out sharply on the rise so it wasn't as clear cut. It was a difficult one to judge as the ball could have clipped the pad a bit as well. The umpire wasn't so sure it was more of a bat nick, than a pad one. It was very very slender to be absolutely sure. The replays couldn't confirm clearly either. Sachin seemed certain he didn't nick it.

BTW, Eng fans here must've seen that Donald-Atherton battle. How different or similar was that to Steyn-Tendulkar battle we witnessed today?
As per my impression of Donald, he couldn't swing it as well as Steyn can, even on flat decks. He relied more on his pace and bounce.

I read somewhere that the last test defeat pushed Aus at number 5. Is it now top 4 still or top 3 with no. 5 in the fray?

The intensity was similar, and SA were on the receiving end of a more dodgy umpiring decision.
My gut feeling is that Steyn does more with the ball than Donald did.

SL aren't good enough to be ranked in top-4. They can't win even at home of late.
Also, I know they're not big draw in SA, Eng and Aus and it is probably not their fault. Still, its like that only.

Cheers again.
Steyn could go down as one of the best ever fast bowlers ever to grace a cricket field. His S/r and average is immense especially considering today's age. His action is so smooth and natural just like Holding and Donald.

Agreed: their position is quite false and I expect us to beat them comfortably. Your boys will be quite another matter though. Just a shame it's not a five match series.

This was that moment which had everyone fooled except Gould and Ackerman who was commentating at that time.

Wait twelve months. He'll be on tour to Australia for the last time, and our star-studded bowling attack, extracting movement off the lively pitches and through the air will have it all over him. He'll struggle to score 700 runs. Mark my words.vilkrang wrote:This Tendulkar chap could go far.
