The 2011 Trivia Thread
Given skully's absence, and taipan's overlooking the start of a new year, here's the trivia thread for the year.
Now, I may have missed one here, but though it best to get the question asked before Aussie Patto plays for Australia, possibly in the next week...
Darren Pattinson famously (or infamously if you like) played cricket for England a few years back, one Test was the extent of his career. His brother James is in the frame for a call-up to Australian duties.
What are the two previous occasions (as far as I've been able to find) where brothers have played for different countries from each other in cricket history?

I saw the question raised during the PM's XI game. Didn't hear them answer it though.

Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
OK, no cribbing on this cuz it's not a real stinker ......
On the " Top 10 batsmen" thread, we established that Sachin and Brian Close played Test cricket in 4 separate decades.
There were two others - and one who played in 5 different decades. Who are they ?

Dunno without looking it up.
Someone suggested Hobbs on the other thread. Did he manage to play into the 1930s?

Yes, it was Sir Jack, and Frank Wooley.
F Brown (Eng), GA Headley (WI), AJ Traicos (Zim), SE Gregory (Aus), and AW Nourse (SA) all had 20+ year carreers, but debuted early / middle of the decade so only played in three.

Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
Got to feel sorry for George Gunn, who played Tests in the 1900s and 1910s, before being dropped in 1912. He was then recalled in 1930, thus not playing in the 1920s.

He only managed three decades, I think. Along with the likes of Bob Simpson, Javed Miandad, Allan Border, Steve Waugh, and Sanath Jayasuriya.

I think that was his own fault. He was given an invitation to tour on the last day of the season, stuck it in his jacket pocket and forgot about it. He finally opened it on the first day of the following season.

Yep, at least 1 although you've mentioned them above in connection with a different pair (I think) but not the name they are usually known by.

Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
Frank Woolley was the last player who appeared in Tests before WWI to play Test cricket making his final appearance v. Australia at The Oval in August 1934. Who was the last player to play in Tests who appeared before WWII?
