Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
I'd have thought the crocky point
"The win is India's first in a major tournament against Australia in a chase. Their earlier six chases had ended in defeats."
was worth a mention too!

Thuranga and Dilshan's effort to run down England's target in the recent WC QF is the first time in either an ODI or Tests that a victory has been attained by 10 wickets with both openers finishing with unbeaten tons. However it has happened 5 times in FC matches. Wanna have a stab at finding them?

Bumping the Q.

Some clues may be in order, I think.
10 wicket First Class win with both openers making unbeaten 100s:
Famous Pom opener + Neville in late 40s
Famous Snoozer + Neville in late 40s
Famous Aus + notable Aus in early 2000s
Coupla famous Aussies in mid 60s
Notable Pakster + Neville in early 80s

Famous Snoozer in late 40s - Bert Sutcliffe (don't think Ed Hillary played cricket and there weren't any other FS's in late 40s....precious few since)
Famous Pom opener - has to be Hutton

Nope, has to be his partner here:
Sussex v. Lancashire, Eastbourne, 23-26 August 1947
Incidentally, Red Rose folk would be miffed at your description of Winston Place as a "neville" as he was a quality player who appeared in 3 Tests on Gubby Allen's 1948 tour of the Caribbean.

Yes:
Canterbury v. Otago, Christchurch, 25-29 December 1948
Hadlee's partner was also famous (or infamous) for failing to trouble the scorers in his only Test appearance - a record he shares with G.F.Grace.

Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
Wrong Leggat?
Ian Leggat was the one who made a duck in his only test innings. His cousin Gordon (who played 9 tests) was Hadlee's partner in the run chase.

Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
Quite right, WW, my mistake. Although Gordon opened his Test account with a duck (b.Worrel) against the Windies opening the innings with Ray Emery at Eden Park in February 1952 he went on to make a further 8 Test appearances and although he only had a modest average of 21 he made 2 50s against the Indians in the 1955/6 series.
His cousin Ian appeared against the Saffies at Newlands in the New Year Test of 1954 and only batted once (at No.10) so did not equal Fred Grace's record of making a pair in his only Test. He bowled only 3 overs without taking a wicket so did at least join the less-than-illustrious band who did not score a run or take a wicket on their only Test appearance.
Thanks for the correction. At least I didn't confuse Fred Grace with his brother!

Re: The 2011 Trivia Thread
Struggling with the Pakster although, as an aside, it should be pointed out that this feat was also achieved in a 40-over match last season which is, in a way, even more remarkable:
