Funnily enough, if today's Pom ODI team played almost any ODI team of of 25 years ago (the exception perhaps being the Windies) they'd doubtless beat them easily. Today's lot are better by far, mainly due to fitness, superior fielding, cleverer study of the opposition and much greater attention to detail. Their only problem is that the rest of the world have all improved too.

Don't know about that (the beating them easily bit).

Suspect there'd be few batsmen of yesteryear ruining a jock strap at the thought of Woakes, Shahzad, Tremlett, Yardy and Tredwell coming at them.

That's fill-your-boots in any era.

If the series goes with any consistent progress, England will walk out for Game 4 wearing clowns' costumes and red noses.

Oh we've always stunk the most; no doubt about it. Washing involves taking off your long johns and grubby string vest, and it's usually too damn cold for that.

It's a chore just turning your underpants inside out after a week, fark that washing lark.

then turn 'em right way round again (albeit inside out) after week three

And then inside out again and also back to front.

Then after a month you do the 'wall test'

If it sticks you can get a few more days out of them, if it doesn't well they're as good as new anyway!

What about when they just go "clunk"? Is there a way (short of washing them) to limber them up a bit to make walking easier?
