The squad is: Christopher Gayle (Captain), Dwayne Bravo (Vice Captain), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Pedro Collins, Fidel Edwards, Daren Ganga, Rawl Lewis, Runako Morton, Brenton Parchment, Daren Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Devon Smith, and Jerome Taylor.



Just to sum up:

Rawl Lewis (he of 300 plus bowling average) instead of Jaggernauth, the regions leading wicket-taker with an excellent doosra etc etc.

Daren Ganga averages 15 in England, 14 in South Africa, and 26 overall and yet he is persisted with.

Pedro Collins is picked after being ignored unjustly for ages, even though he is unavailable having signed as a kolpak for Surrey.

Ravi Rampaul is dropped for no reason at all it seems.

Andy Roberts and Gordon Greenidge may have been great players, but they are bona fide idiots when it comes to selecting cricket teams in the modern era.

I was looking forward to this tour, but the selectors have done such a bad job that I doubt we will win more than a couple of sessions let alone a test.

He may take the Surrey cash, got to look after his family at this stage of his career.

Plus he has been pissed off with the selectors continuously ignoring him for no apparent reason.

So he secures his financial future and the selectors suddenly want to pick him again.

It's ludicrous, I wonder how much rum the 3 blind mice consume at their selection meetings.

Its extremely problematic. The smaller island chains otherwise known as the dotties (Antigua, St Vincent, Anguilla, St Kitts, Grenada, Dominica etc) have been harshly treated over the years. Ever since Andy Roberts got on the selection committee he has tried his hardest to change this, constantly selecting Devon Smith, Runako Morton, Sylvester Joseph, Rawl Lewis etc at the expense of Guyanese batsman like Deonarine and Chatergoon.

But even taking these problems into account they are just downright incompetent and ignore domestic performances and go on hunches.

Rawl Lewis (henceforth known as Real Loowaste) has taken 1 wicket in 4 tests. Jaggernauth has not played a test and taken 120 wickets in 30 odd FC matches at an average of 23. Its not exactly rocket science is it?

Badly twisted his ankle just 2 matches into his comeback from that shoulder injury, so he will miss the entire tour.

Wow. The WI selectors really do suck. IMO if Windies cricket was managed better they would have a competitive team.

As he really does chuck, I doubt they ever will be satisfied with his action tbh.

I'm far more worried about their ability to understand spin bowling and its usefulness in modern cricket.

At least Gayle will be captain. Imo he should be captain of both the Test and ODI side. Bravo being made vice captain is also a big step for him.

Obviously they werent yet convinced that Raul Lewis is worse than Ian Salisbury.

fair point WIFAN re the spin issue...re lawson i do not think many other national selection committees would have taken such a decent stand as your blokes

Dunno about Gayle as a captain but the alternatives aren't exactly falling over each other in the crush.

Well Aussies do make very convenient scapegoats, even if the guy does resemble a baseball pitcher.

Having said that I was pretty angry woth everything Australian after the umpiring/ treatment etc on the 2005 tour .
