I just made those names up.
..... apart from Brian Patterson who I remember well from my younger days. A decent slow left armer & handy late order bat.

No. He played a few games for Queensland back in 1967.
He was a hooker.

Played in the same era as Brian Fitzsimmons so he was probably lucky to get those caps. Johnny Lang was just after that.

Cowmeadow, like Gary Whitney were good state cricketers but not test material imho. I thought about including Brian Patterson but its hard to judge players from the pre-shield era. The exception i made was Les Appleton who i remember from my young days as a genuine quick who could match it with any bowler of his day.
Re: Best Tossies never to play for Australia
How can anybody he called Cowmeadow FFS?

Les could have been anything, except (probably) a batsman. Sadly he enjoyed the 'cameraderie' after the game more than the game itself, and wrecked his health and his life.
