This week, the 100 Test milestone will be passed by:

Ashwin
Bairstow
Southee
Williamson

It’s no longer a rare feat (76 players, about to become 80), but it’s rare for multiple players to reach it almost simultaneously. I can recall Boycott, number 2 on the list, getting there in 1981. Previous simultaneous game centuries:

Alec Stewart and Michael Atherton (2000)
Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis, and Stephen Fleming (2006)
Michael Clarke and Alastair Cook (2013)

With his next run (hopefully), Marsh will break through the 2000 Test run barrier ...

... and there it is

And Nepo’s average is back in the 30s.

Without using a calculator, guess Mishmash's series average?

How is he going with the 50th pole?

Smith will reach 10,000 but if he gets to 10,200 I'll do a Louie.

He averaged 48 for this match - he must have been on 50.0000-something this time last week

It's a long Test gap now until India arrive in November. Re our top 6 of:

Smith
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Green
Head
Marsh

there will be a few questions asked before T1. One problem is that none of the opening bat challengers have really kicked on this year. Bancroft has been the best for most of the season, but has faded late. Ward and Hunt have literally disappeared from the scene. God knows what Renshaw is doing, he may be in the safest place ... just observing. Daniel Smith, Caleb Jewell, and Sam Whiteman all look a class below that required to open (but so do Smith and Khawaja, currently).

McSweeney and Webster have been the big movers in the batting stakes, but neither look like succeeding at opening. Maybe McSweeney?

Interesting times.
