Aye. Was watching it all live in a pub in Soho having had a few quid on SRW being top scorer in the Aust innings.
Not quite the goodest of good times though. That was to happen a few days later.

The crocinfo commentary:
30.6 Klusener to SR Waugh, no run, DROPPED! inside edge, easiest of easy
catches for Gibbs at mid wicket, he had it in his hands, but got
too excited and somehow dropped it
the ball seemed to slip out as he was about to throw it in the air
and celebrate, amazing
Australia have to win now, they owe it to Gibbs

Of course, nowadays, a lot of you (not me) would've been cheaping the victory by 'wondering' whether Gibbs dropped that for money or not....
Re: 12 years ago today
BTW - this ball was the point in the match where I thought we were going to do it...
38.1 Donald to SR Waugh, FOUR, hello Donald, good-bye Donald, slower
ball outside the off stump, simply smashed over the covers, Waugh
determined to see his side in the semis
Cronje had turned to his No 1 guy (who was in great form) and Waugh treated him with disdain. It was captaincy batting at its finest.
