Re: Bresnan
I don't know why he's straight back into the ODI squad as soon as he's fit. He is generally ordinary in ODIs. I don't know how our test selections can generally be so spot on, but our ODI selections so f*cked up and incompetent.

Re: Bresnan
Half right (and the important half at that) is at least better than our NSP's ongoing efforts, Trev.

Bresnan is sh!t at ODIs. Fortunately these meaningless games can help him warm up for the real stuff.

Re: Bresnan
Strange that he's been brought straight back in despite no form at all. What was it 0-47 off 4?

I think he's useful myself, just he has no form to speak of atm, a bit like Bopara...

Re: Bresnan
I've never thought much of him as an ODI player. The Melbourne test was a real revelation as he'd done nothing except be solid (mentally and physically) up to that point. No reverse swing to be had in ODIs, though.....

ATM? Whole career? 49 wickets @ 37.38.
Re: Bresnan
And an economy rate of over 5.

Re: Bresnan
Over his whole List A career, which is nearly 200 matches, his average is 33 and his economy rate is still over 5.
Filth. A trier for sure, with a good sound head on his shoulders, and deserves to be in the reckoning for tests, but evidently hittable in the shorter forms.

Which makes him England's most in-form limited overs bowler...

Aye, not good. I'm not saying he can't improve but it's basically indicating that the cupboard's completely bare in their eyes. That's it. Five or six underachievers in the pile and nobody else is worth a look. It should be the same as the past generation for ECB and WC selection: try a bloke for two years before realising he's probs not gonna make it, drop him, play a handful of others for not many games, then go back to the bloke who you dropped.
Re: Bresnan
Bresnan's in the England Test Favourite Club now. Of course he's going to be in every squad for every game - he might cry and be a bad Test player if not (that seems to be the theory of England management). The only time this does not apply is when a player is being 'protected' or when a player has retired from certain forms of the game. Basically all the Test XI is now in the ODI squad. At least four or five of them should never play a ODI again.

Re: Bresnan
Aye, as I've said they must obviously not even bother to check stats, form or career. Whilst stats don't tell everything, they're a decent indicator of possible performance. Bowlers with a high economy and batsmen with a low S/R are likely to get dictated to at international level, which aids in not performing to a high enough standard to win a decent percentage of matches. But what's the matter really, I mean the next 3.5 years are all friendlies.
Re: Bresnan
Bresnan back in the ODI squad? he bowled four overs of pies yesterday and went for 47, bowling at no more than 3/4 pace.
