Arthur warns Proteas about Johnson threat
http://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/Proteas/Beware-Proteas-Mickey-Arthur-20110927
Maybe the Mitch knockers have forgotten how well he bowls over there. If Harris is firing the Aussie pace attack may have the edge on the SA one which lacks depth outside of Steyn and Morkel. It's a pity it's only two tests but with their lack of cricket, maybe our proud record of not losing a series there for over forty years will stand.

If Rhino bowls as well as he did in SL, then we may not get flogged.

Well at least the Saffers don't have to worry about Midge in the Limited Overs rubbish.

Blues teen sensation storms into Australian squad
Andrew Wu
September 28, 2011 - 1:30PM
Teenage sensation Pat Cummins is set to make his international debut next month after being named in Australia's limited-overs squads for the tour of South Africa.
And fellow young gun Mitch Marsh continued his meteoric rise when he was picked in Australia's Twenty20 squad but, in a minor selection shock, there was no room for Mitchell Johnson, who has lost his place to Doug Bollinger.
Cummins, 18, who made his first-class debut earlier this year, has been picked in both the Twenty20 and ODI squads after an injury to Victoria's bowling all-rounder John Hastings.
Advertisement: Story continues below "Patrick is a very exciting fast bowler and was one of the youngest players ever to receive an Australian contract this year. We are very confident he will succeed at international level," said Andrew Hilditch.
Marsh, 19, whom Hilditch said was "an extremely talented and exciting all-rounder", has been given his opportunity after an impressive tour of Zimbabwe for Australia A during the winter.
"We think he's ready for the international stage," Hilditch said.
Johnson paid the price after two expensive outings with the ball in the Twenty20 matches against Sri Lanka, giving Bollinger - one of the world's best shortest form bowlers - a chance to to transfer his Indian Premier League form into national colours.
"Mitchell has struggled in this format of the game to date. Most Twenty20 internationals have been at the start of tours and Mitchell has not always been at his best in these matches," Hilditch said.
"Obviously Mitchell has a great skill set for Twenty20 cricket and we are sure he will put a lot of pressure on us to pick him in the future in the Twenty20 team.
"His place has gone to Doug Bollinger, who is very experienced in this form of the game and his consistent performances in Twenty20 cricket have led to him forcing his way into the side."
As expected, Victoria's Matthew Wade will keep wickets in the Twenty20 side following Brad Haddin's retirement from that form of the game and an injury to Tasmanian Tim Paine.
"Matthew is an extremely exciting keeper batsman who is very well equipped for Twenty20 cricket and we think he will have an immediate impact on the international scene," Hilditch said.
David Warner's "irresistible" recent form saw him replace veteran David Hussey in the ODI squad.
"We did not think that David [Hussey] quite took his opportunity in Sri Lanka and his place has been taken by David Warner," Hilditch said.
Australia play South Africa in two Twenty20s and three ODIs, starting on October 13.
Twenty20 squad: Cameron White (c), Shane Watson (vc), Doug Bollinger, Patrick Cummins, Aaron Finch, David Hussey, Brett Lee, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Stephen O'Keefe, James Pattinson, Steven Smith, Matthew Wade, David Warner
ODI squad: Michael Clarke (c), Shane Watson (vc), Doug Bollinger, Patrick Cummins, Xavier Doherty, Brad Haddin, Mike Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Steven Smith, David Warner

Too early for Cummins from what i've seen of him. Hasn't been the same bowler since Simon Katich bowled him into the ground in the Shield Final.

Hildick is still selecting them.
Re: Arthur warns Proteas about Johnson threat
Why? Nielsen and Chappell have already got the chop in the wake of the Argus Review. Why is Hilditch still doing his worst?

Presumably he will keep doing it until they select a new chairman of selectors. CA is currently calling for expressions of interest.

Can i suggest it went something like this:
" The stoopid twats have picked him again....Happy days"
Re: Arthur warns Proteas about Johnson threat
He's so precious, Johnson. No one seems to want to hurt his feelings. He gets cuddled through every net session and every spell he bowls. I wonder if team management wipes the food away from around his mouth after each meal as well?
Exactly how Harmi used to be for us. It took Andy Flower to come on board for us to draw the line under him, and we haven't done too badly since.
Logic says- Sack the soft, clueless c*nt, make him tough it out and find his form again in Shield Cricket, then pick him again if he does that.

Exactly what every Aussie supporter has been saying for months. We long for the day that Hildick is replaced.

Can't disagree with anything that's been said about Midge, and he frustrates the bejeezus out of me, but the truth is he has 187 Test wickets at 30 in under 4 years. So the lad is valuable when he gets it right. He also has 1186 runs at 21 with a ton and 6 x 50s.
If only he could do it all more consistently.

How is he still in post if he was levered out for incompetence? Makes little sense.

Fark, I thought Red had only been saying the same thing for a few weeks. Seems like it has actually been a few years.
Apart from the absence of Vern and the idea that we may have the edge the situation is eerily simialr to this tour

Not surprising this thread came grinding to a premature halt. In the series that followed in SA, Johnson took 3@85.

Yeah, strange this thread didn't get resurrected in a triumphal, hindsighty way. Very strange. Here's a three year 'I told didn't tell you so' right here.

I don't hear so much criticism of Sutherland and Co these days.

I think a lot of the Aussies are happy with the deal he has made with the BCCI.
