Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (IV)
Rudd has said he doesn't want it.
Ideally, both Rudd and Swan will leave the party at the next election - at the moment, clearly they absolutely hate each others guts and that will stuff up Qld for the ALP.

If she's true to her word, that would surely mean re-instating Rudd as Foreign Minister? He remains an asset to Labor because of his popularity with the public.

Carr's ruled himself out.
Latest people being discussed for the Senate spot are Warren Mundine, Michael Fullilove (very smart guy I went to Uni with but who I would have expected to have entered politics before now; he currently works for the Lowy Institute) and Scott Harker who is the CEO of Morgan Stanley Australia.
Obviously the pinko investment banker should get the job.

If her current cabinet cannot put her in an election winning lead. Then surely you would think she would shuffle it??
And yet some people want to keep it the way it was. True believers and true haters.

They are saying in the Nooz this morning that Ministers railed against the Vulture on the Carr move. I guess ol' duckface is not popular amongst some of the factions. Or rather, the faithful wanted payback.JGK wrote:Carr's ruled himself out.

"JULIA Gillard was forced to withdraw an offer to make former NSW premier Bob Carr her foreign affairs minister after senior ministers rebelled and demanded Kevin Rudd's vacancy be filled by one of her supporters, Stephen Smith or Simon Crean.
In a breakdown of Labor stability and the Prime Minister's authority, Ms Gillard was told she could not appoint Mr Carr as foreign minister and parachute him into the Senate to fill the vacancies left by Mr Rudd and NSW right-wing powerbroker Mark Arbib, who on Monday announced his shock resignation as a senator."

Needless to say I am delighted he won't be going to Federal Politics. There are enough small minded people in Federal Politics already.
