Dhoni's run in ODIs
78*, 50*, 87*, 35*, 15*, 75*.
What's the record for the most runs without being dismissed in ODIs?

Phurt. If he'd smashed Bangladesh, we'd all be going on about his minnow-bashing. This is probably down at the Kenyan level...

I'm not 100% sure but I think the answer is 400. Lance Klusener was dismissed after clocking up his 400th run in this sequence:
103* v NZ Auckland Feb 20, 1999
35* v NZ Napier Mar 26, 1999
13* v NZ Auckland Mar 27, 1999
35* v NZ Wellington Mar 30, 1999
12* v Ind Hove May 15, 1999
52* v SL Northampton May 19, 1999
48* v Eng The Oval May 22, 1999
52* v Zim Chelmsford May 29, 1999
46* v Pak Nottingham Jun 5, 1999
He beat the previous record held by Javed Miandad of 398:
31* v Aus Hyderabad Sep 20, 1982
61* v Aus Lahore Oct 8, 1982
106* v Ind Gujranwala Dec 3, 1982
3* v Ind Multan Dec 17, 1982
119* v Ind Lahore Dec 31, 1982
6* v Ind Karachi Jan 21, 1983
72 v SL Swansea Jun 9, 1983

What's impressive about Klusener's run is that half the innings were played against good teams during the pressure of a World Cup.

Re: Dhoni's run in ODIs
So Dhoni (currently at 340*) need to make 61 in his next innings (or 61 over the next few innings before being dismissed) to take the record.

Indeed, Trev. He was in the form of his life (Zulufohlâ„¢) at the time and looked undismissable.Henry wrote:skully wrote:A good triv Q, Trev.Henry wrote:78*, 50*, 87*, 35*, 15*, 75*.

Re: Dhoni's run in ODIs
Sorry, left the last innings of the sequence off Zulu's record.
Most runs between dismissals in ODIs:
400 - L Klusener (RSA)
103* v NZ Auckland Feb 20, 1999
35* v NZ Napier Mar 26, 1999
13* v NZ Auckland Mar 27, 1999

Re: Dhoni's run in ODIs
Looking at the sequence of Zulu's, he was dismissed by the Kiwis for 4 in a Super Six game at 99 Gilly, then Aus got him for 36 in the "You just dropped the World Cup" Super Six game that Aus had to win to make the semis. Then he made 36* in THAT semi final and added 7* and 101* in the 1st 2 matches of a multi-team series in Kenya (The LG Cup).
His average in that full sequence was 287.50.

Re: Dhoni's run in ODIs
Cheers TO. Indeed he did. Glad I put the "not 100% sure" rider in.
YoYo (as he was at the time) had the following sequence of 405 runs before dismissal v Bots in 2002:
141* v Zim Bulawayo 23 Nov 2002
76* v Zim Bulawayo 24 Nov 2002
100* v Zim Harare 27 Nov 2002
DNB v Zim Harare 30 Nov 2002
88 v Zim Harare 1 Dec 2002
Thus Dhoni needs 66 more runs before his next dismissal to take the record.
Interestingly (or not) both Zulu and Yoyo's sequences were preceeded by a duck.

Awesome consistency even though its minnows only.141* v Zim Bulawayo 23 Nov 2002
76* v Zim Bulawayo 24 Nov 2002
100* v Zim Harare 27 Nov 2002
DNB v Zim Harare 30 Nov 2002
88 v Zim Harare 1 Dec 2002
Further on him, looks like he wants to break Afridi's record in making U-turns from the retirements he took.
Apparently, he is ready to play for Pak in all forms of the game.
