Most disastrous tour of Oz - Poms 06-07 or bannies 11-12?
Both tours are famously disastrous....perhaps felch is in the best position to adjudicate
The Poms getting pantsed 5-0 is worse than the Bannies' 4-0 flogging, tho the former won the JAMODI that tour and the Bannies would certainly have lost a fifth test had one been held.
The Pom tour pretty much ended Freddy as it will end dravid and vvs and possibly seaweed
much of a muchness really....tho hella grouse from an Oz perspective

Lay off. He's allowed to have a seniors moment occasionally.

TO makes the valid comparison with the 1999-2000 Indian tour of Aus where they won basically nothing. But Trev correctly points out that it was a shit-hot Aussie side and a very decent Pakster side (two W's still playing) up against the Bannies in that summer.
And as pointed out in the JAMODI thread, Freddy's boys won the Com Bank series, beating Aus 2-0 in the Finals.
So I'd rank this tour as possibly one of the worst of all time.

This one, an okay Australian team that drew a series to NZ and got bowled out for 47 just a couple of months ago has been made to look like the 06-07 Australia. Regardless of it being just an ODI series, England won the tri series that year. India doing diddly squat now.

altho England came here for that series as holder of the Ashes and were supremely cofnident they would towel Australia up...by the end of the test series only freddy (whose ankle had blown), Monty and to some extent Colly were trying to put up resistance

Definitely India's because apart from a few of the younger players, they have looked for some time as if they have had one foot in the departure lounge.

SRT to bring up that long awaited 100th 100 in the 50th over. India to finish on 9-230.

And nobody in India to see it due to lack of live pictures.

Man, they'll burn something down, won't they, if that happens?

I've just gone into lock down mode.
Can't be arsed to check online streams for an ODI.

Apparently, it's a power failure at the Bellerive. I'm safe now, not sure about Tasmania.

Re: Most disastrous tour of Oz - Poms 06-07 or bannies 11-12?
India came to Australia for this tour as a recent World #1 side and the reigning World Cup champions.
England while they came in 06-07 as the holders of the Ashes, they were still very much a side on the way up, as opposed to being near the top of the heap.
So India's performance is much worse on that scale.
Australia this summer managed to lose a match to NZ immediately before the series, and had a tour of South Africa that inlcuded a sub-50 innings total before that.
Australia in 06-07 had plenty of greats still relatively close to their best, and was a team capable of beating almost any opposition.
So India fares worse on that measure too.
England won the ODI series, India struggled to win a chook raffle.
Overall - India's performance far worse.

06-07 Test by Test:
BRIS: A disaster from ball 1
ADEL England likely winners an hour into Sunday, only possible winners end day 4. Notwithstanding day 5 they must have played some passable cricket to get there.
PERTH: Reasonably competitive either side of Gilly's innings, bowled well day 1, batted well day 4 and first hour day 5.
MELB: Looked like leading on the first innings until Hayden-Symonds stand.
SYD: Oz never made to go above second gear. See Brisbane.
Summary: The Poms were competitive for longish periods of three of the five Tests.
Any time the Bannies were competitive I must have been out having a smoke. And I gave the gaspers away before Tendles played Test cricket.

Re: Most disastrous tour of Oz - Poms 06-07 or bannies 11-12?
This India tour was worse... Fred sums it up well but in essence even that isn't needed. Aus aren't the same side they were in 06/07, they had an established top 7, they had Warne, Gump and McGrath. Top side.
The CB series is immaterial, it couldn't be more WGAF - that left a nasty taste in my mouth, especially as it contributed to us picking a f*cking diabolical ODI side for the WC a few months later. Shite.

Melbourne, up until that tail end stand between Pattinson and Hilfenhaus. Aus were 9 down and only about 200 ahead. Actually, Aus may have only set 160 odd if Dravid Hadn't dropped a sitter off Hussey early in his innings.

06--7 was worse, because the team actually did give a sh!t, but wasn't good enough against a side with some greats still in it.

Re: Most disastrous tour of Oz - Poms 06-07 or bannies 11-12?
Well, India may yet salvage something from this tour. A remarkable batting effort has seen them chase down an imposing 321 INSIDE 37 overs to not only win, but grab a bonus point. They now move ahead of the Lankans on the table based on head-to-head results. Lanka need to take some sort of points from the final preliminary game v Aus on Friday in Melbourne to make the Finals.
Only for the fact that James Sutherland will be demanding that Aus beat SL to ensure India's presence in the Finals, Aus would probably field the Prahran 1st Grade XI to ensure a Lankan win and an Aus v Lanka Final series.
