Wikipedia has included a death date in his bio so it must be true (lol!). Almost as long as a Chanderpaul innings, 121 days after Zat made the first strike of 2012 Skully follows it up with the prize wicket of Abeldbaset Al-Megrahi. Using my suggested points system Megrahi would have earned the Skullmeister 48 points i.e. 100-60 on the basis of Megrahi's age + 8 points based on the month he died in.

Although level on the leader board under the present system Skully would be narrowly ahead under my points system since Zat would have scored 39 (100-73) + 12 for Etta James due to the fact that Megrahi was younger (although he managed to reach his 60th birthday whereas James narrowly missed her 74th). He should also take some consolation from the fact that he achieved his strike 201 days before his solitary strike in 2011 when the 96yo Harry Morgan would have earned him a meagre 5 points.

Just like England at Lord's today, when one wicket falls another usually follows. Congratulations (if that is the right word which it probably isn't), JGK:

Robin Gibb dead at 62

3 now on the leader board. On the points system JGK gets (100-62) + 8 = 46 putting him just behind Skully so it reads

1. Skully (48)
2. JGK (46)
3. Zat (39)
All bar those

All three strikes this year courtesy (if that's the right word which it probably isn't) of the Big C. Commiserations and condolences to Mr Gibb's friends and family - none to Al-Megrahi's fans who can join him in Hell as far as I'm concerned.

Skully and Chiv should be the record-keepers on this but is this the first instance of two successful noms on the same day? I remember doing a list of successful noms last year in order of karking it but it appears to have disappeared but a long period of fallow activity followed by two or three noms close together seems to be a feature of this game.

Last year Vikrang and Growler secured Michael Gough and Elizabeth Taylor within a week of one another in March whilst OPT, having remained scoreless for 9 months, roared to the top of the leader board (and finished joint winner) with Steve Jobs and Gaddafi in October.

Looking at the successful picks they were all suffering from terminal illnesses before 2012 so it was more a question of when rather than if, indeed in the case of Al-Megrahi, a case of why so long. Whilst forummers were spot on in picking the biggest celebrities to turn their toes up last year - Elizabeth Taylor, Amy Winehouse, Steve Jobs, Gaddafi and Kim Jong-Il we've missed the two biggest celebrities to fall this year - Whitney Houston and Donna Summer.

Houston was evidently a car crash waiting to happen a la Amy Winehouse whilst Summer was suffering from a terminal illness that was apparently unbeknownst to all, apart from Wide Wally. Hmmm, Houston, Summer and now Gibb - obviously not a good year for fans of the disco era except for the retrospective TV programmes.

I think the above is rather confusing as you are crediting forummers with strikes irrespective of the year their noms actually died in. Consequently Zat, Eowyn, Mynah and Emu are all credited with Amy Winehouse even though they all obviously nommed her in different years (since double-nomming is contrary to the rules) and it was only Eowyn who nommed her correctly, i.e. in the actual year of her death.

Nick Stahl, JC in Terminator 3, hasn't been seen in over a week. Wife has filed a missing persons report. Drugs linked.

This one might turn out bad....

Checked himself into rehab. Fingers crossed that they've got better security than their mental asylums...

It is nothing more than a running list of all the nominations made by each player over the years of CDL, including those noms that have passed on (so they don't get nommed by others). It is not meant to be a list used for competition purposes, rather to allow nominations to be made in the new year without players reselecting a previous nom or a dead celeb. Made my job easier at the beginning of this year.

Zoggy was interested so I posted it. shrug
