Test cricket likely to return to Boxing Day in SA

Highly instructive though to see that one of the reasons it was scrapped was because of the low crowd figures over that period. We were told that they couldn't come here at Christmas time because it deprives their public of seeing their team in action. Quite ironic. Anyway good to see their public display some passion for the longer form of the game and bombard their board with complaints.
The poor performance of their team was also cited as another reason for taking it off the Christmas/BD time slot. If the Windies or Bangladesh had this attitude they would never have any tests.

If I wake up at 5:30 an iPad isn't the first thing I think of reaching for

Would have been better if you could have got the quote function to work.

Re: Test cricket likely to return to Boxing Day in SA
India should schedule start of all their SA tours with boxing day tests. Still won't a series there though. We are so satisfied with a test series draw there that it is a surefire sign we will never succeed. We are happy if we exceed our expectations and win a test here or there in Aus and SA. And if we get a series win against pissweak sides like NZ/WI, we can say we have turned the corner. Its a blessing actually that we lost 4-0 to both Ashes rivals. It exposed to us why we didn't deserve to be called a top test side. I think perhaps winning the damned WC was a curse than a blessing. It made us arrogant, exceeded BCCI's money banks and made us lose focus of the real tests as the players got more arrogant and more bigger heads than their shoulders could prop up.
