It has become a joke.
Nowadays I am only interested in the diving and gymnastics. I will watch some of the Aths and stadium cycling but not much else.

Who is Oliver Hoare?
If you say that quickly, it sounds like someone is interested in a prostitute.
What were his parents thinking?
Anyway, back to Oliver .... is he a contender?

And soon after: hen's eggs, goose eggs, pigeon eggs and emu eggs, all over each of 6 distances, the same as the swimming rort (disclaimer: Ian Thorpe, Shane Gould, Suzie O.Neill, Dawn Fraser and anybody else anyone wants to add are/were all wonderful human beings totally dedicated to excellence in their chosen sport and none of the preceding rant is their doing)

Re: In other news ....
Admire the marathon blokes and will definitely be watching it, I think you forgot to mention the Ethiopians ...
Never ran a marathon myself. Did plenty of 5000 and 10000 in my time but was never moved to attempt a marathon. One of my brothers was until very recently a regular Ironman and triathlon competitor, and for years he wanted me to do the run leg in a team effort ... but I always declined, leaving him to do all 3 legs unassisted. Illness has now forced him to quit.

I forgot which team dominated what distance. Used to run up to 10000m in school though most cc were less. The Marathon was a tri village charity thing and was part of a deal with my grandfather to do the heavy lifting in sporting affairs. I knew the bloke running the show (or at leasrt keeping the book) figured it was about as straight as a midweek at Rand wick. Rode the course and figured his mapping was about as sound as Columbus and 20 km was manageable and came in top fifth in a good sixed field.

Re: In other news ....
People in other States may not have been following this story, but a woman named Melissa Caddick disappeared after being raided in November last year by ASIC and the Feds for the activities of her alleged highly dodgy investment "company". She basically ripped off family and friends to the tune of $20 million to fund her very lavish lifestyle from her $6 million dollar Dover Heights mansion.
She was heard (by her teenage son) leaving the house at 5.00 am the next morning and hasn't been seen since.
Seems she ran out of money (her bank account has just $5K left in it) and luck and decided enough was enough and jumped off the Gap. Her decomposed foot has been found in a shoe washed up on a South Coast beach.

In news that has sent the S Bend into its usual orgasm of schadenfreud-as-dick-size, Dan Andrews has gone arse over tit down the stairs at his home and is now in intensive care with cracked ribs and as-yet-unassessed spinal damage.
