Abbott won't go near WorkChoices, although you can be sure Gillard, Albanese & Combet will claim over and over, in their nasally Union-bloated whines, that the Libs will secretly want to.

Of course they are, but given that the Libs could quite probably still be in power only for the 2007 Election WorkChoices debacle, they will tread very carefully.

the german shepherds are ready to be loosened...if the MM looks like he will slaughter the labs, he will release a vague policy in election week and claim a mandate

Hopefully they'll do it a little more elegantly than that. They should establish links between the LNP and the likes of Gina and Clive, show how much the LNP listens to them (eg Gina's Northern Australia special economic zone) and then remind everyone that Gina wants people to work for $2 a day. THEN point out how clever the LNP are in publicly denying Workchoices 2 but secretly entirely intending for it to be established in another form.
They could roll it out every time the LNP links the ALP to union corruption.

Nope. They would have been thumped in 2010 because Aust would have been in deep recession.

Er, right. The ONLY thing that saved the Vulture in 2010 was her outrageous lie about the Carbon Tax and then only because Juliar blew Oakeshott, Windsor and Brandt and swallowed to split the 72-all deadlock. Still, she'll pay for those indiscretions in spades, come September.
The Libs would've judiciously spent their way through the GFC with the money they had in the bank, not killed sparkies, built million dollar toilet blocks, or handed out $1,000 tattoo parlour cheques, getting a pat on the back from the electorate for a job well done.
Your Commie fantasy world kills me.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VII)
Skully, you would have been proud of me today. I'm at a tax conference with 150 financial services tax people and the first talk today was from some blowhard QC who talked about the current government being a sovereign risk. He brought out some bullshit examples and then put finished by putting a quote from some Mining lobbying group saying something like "Aust is increasing becoming an unattractive place to do business to the point where foreign investment is going to go somewhere else".
He then asked the audience "who disagrees with this". Only 2 of us put our hands up to which the arrogant tosser said Ï rest my case".
Scarily, given that there are about half a dozen ATO people here it looks like I am more pinko than the ATO.
He then asked the audience "who disagrees with this". Only 2 of us put our hands up to which the arrogant tosser said Ï rest my case".

Mate, nothing will top your "Waaaaaarnie" chant when MacGoo was being snotted by SRT & VVS at the SCG in Jan 2003.JGK wrote:Skully, you would have been proud of me today. Rio posts its first net loss and has exited (probably permanently) from a few sites in Australia, including one which was a major employer near me.
