Paksters win the toss and bat first. Morkel and de Kock replace Smith and Kleinveldt.

Nothing about Smith being fat and Kleinveldt bowling pies?

Pak have racked up a decent score in their 20 overs. They might even get to 190.

Anyone see Wahab Riaz's run out? Don't understand why it was given out. Robin Peterson knocked the bails off with his arm, then hit the ball against the stumps. Then he pulled a stump out with one hand, and then with the other, once it was out of the ground, started tapping the ball against it.
I thought if you made a hash of it the first time, the whole point of the 'pull the stump out of the ground' thing was that the ball was supposed to be in contact at the time. Otherwise he's just doing the same thing again - breaking the stumps with his hands and then using the ball too late.

It was given out because Wahab Riaz is a qunt.

True, the third umpire probably saw him on the way to the ground wearing a leather jacket stuffed with notes and got jealous.
Re: South Africa v Pakistan, 5th ODI, Benoni, 24 March, 2013
He realised it was actually the same leather jacket stuffed with notes.

There are other parts of Law 28 that cause confusion among players, the main one being how to put down a wicket that has already been broken.
The fielder must put the wicket down so that it has fewer bails on the stumps or fewer stumps in the ground. So, if for example only one bail had previously been removed, it would be sufficient to simply remove the other bail.
Wicket must have "fewer bails" to be "put down"
However, if both bails were already off, it is necessary for the fielder to remove or strike one of the stumps from the ground.
This must be done with the hand or any part of the arm of the fielder, providing that the ball is held in the hand or hands so used, or in the hand of the arm so used.
Fielders often hold the ball in both hands to grasp the stump
and pull it out of the ground.

Judging from the above the umpire got it wrong. The ball was in his right hand and he pulled the stump out with his left.

Yeah, they definitely got it wrong. Think Kepler knew as well, but kept his mouth shut.

Shows there is a first for everything.
I still agree with your reasoning though.

Haysman literally just said 'de Kock not rising to the challenge' - is this sort of thing allowed??

He also said de Kock hits it to BJ when NZ were there. It's better than that.Brass Monkey wrote:Haysman literally just said 'de Kock not rising to the challenge' - is this sort of thing allowed??

Someone should tell this young buck Alf Reedy to shut up.
Re: South Africa v Pakistan, 5th ODI, Benoni, 24 March, 2013
Early teenagers may struggle with the lbw laws. He should get there in another 15 years.
Amla's wicket has helped the run rate.

Stunning innings from AB Divilliers, he batted with a lot of guts and obviously he has a LOT of ability.
This ODI should really be the end of Y Khan as an ODI player, not only he had a poor series with the bat he also dropped a sitter when AB had just 1 against his name. Younis has been poor in ODI cricket since way back in 2009 and it is time to give Umar Akmal and/or Asad a chance.

AB- South Africa's finest ever ODI batsman?
And to think he could hardly make a run in his first 50 odd ODIs. Averaged about 25.

Both Amla and AB are brilliant but yes AB is slightly ahead of Amla and in my book SA's finest ODI batsman ever.
