MINARET of MOSQUE destroyed amidst finger-pointing

long after this war is over, brainless damage like this to 1000 years of culture will be a cause for regret

It's reminiscent in recent times of the Taliban destroying ancient Buddhist statues, or the Serbs shelling the ancient city of Dubrovnik just 20 years ago ... or, looking back a bit further, to Vandals and Visigoths trashing horrie's place

and it goes back further than that ...

we've learned nothing in 3000 years

I'm not sure the "Barbarians" who "sacked" Rome (an emotive image later conjured up by massively biased commentators) did that much architectural damage, did they? A lot of the old stuff is still standing many centuries later.

If I had been there with a couple of pals, I might have knocked a few more of the more obvious self-glorifications of an essentially fascist colonising power! Very Happy
