Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (X)
Abbott just on Nein's morning show. He reckons the polls are showing people's relief in being rid of the Vulture. Probably some truth in that. I'm sure folk got exasperated at her weekly fark ups, class and gender warfare, and absolute stubbornness not to adjust policy when needed, and the arrogance that went with it.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (X)
A number news bulletins reported that various pollsters (Nielsen, Galaxy, NewsPoll, Morgan, etc) believe that this is a clear honeymoon period for Krudd, and felt that the longer the election date is delayed the more the polls will swing back to L-NP.
I hope this is so.
Let's face it, Krudd could call DGB a cheating overrated qunt and drop a shit in the Nein studio on live TV, and still poll better than Abbott.

The Libs seem to be united behind Abbott. Not so sure that would be the case if the millionaire was in charge. Don't want a Vulture v Krudd debacle on the Blue side of Politics if in power. Happy to take my chances with Tony, thanks h.

The Mad Monk seems to be losing the plot:
''Just ask yourself what an emissions trading scheme is all about. It's a so-called market in the non-delivery of an invisible substance to no one,'' he said, when addressing reporters in Camden, in south-west Sydney, on Monday.

Popularity doesnt always equate to good leadership. When Turnbull had the leadership, the Libs were a rabble & they remained a rabble until Abbot took over & they became a viable opposition. There is no doubt the sustained personal Labor campain against Abbott is having an effect. The Libs may have a better chance with Turnbull but they would lack direction imho.

as I have posted before, the campaign has been underway for a while...perhaps the MM could do the right thing in contrast to Labor by standing down voluntarily

I don't think many Blues would argue with you, h (I think most of us have acknowledged that Turnbull would clearly be preferred by the Electorate) but it would appear too late in the day now.

It's too late to change.
But one astute comment was that Abbott is popular with rusted on conservatives.
The progressive Turnbull is popular with swinging voters who would vote either Labor or Liberal based on the respective policies.

I'd vote to the Tories if MT was the Leader.

In my seat my vote won't make a difference. But I probably won't vote Rudd. I sure as bell won't vote Abbott.
I cannot forgive Rudd for his treacherous behaviour.
Probably vote informal.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (X)
does anyone here watch Kitchen Cabinet on the ABC?...last night Annabelle Crabbe had Sen Nick Xenephon on...terrific ...funny and insightful...the Senator came across as an eccentric but fundamentally decent person...last week Emerson was on ...the good thing about this showis that the pollies come over as distinctly human with lots of strengths and frailties.
