It has just been reported that A.M. will spend the rest of his life as a quadriplegic. What a tragic outcome!

I'm in a comp where you have to nominate one team per round to win. The number of players has already been reduced by a third. Next weeks looking to be a real bitch.

I was already leaning towards that match after a quick first llok. Though the Broncos or Storm at home are hard to overlook.

Newcastle Knights slam Alex McKinnon report
April 1, 2014 - 3:28PM
The Newcastle Knights have condemned what they labelled a "sensationalised" television report on the condition of injured player Alex McKinnon, 22, who suffered spinal damage in last week's match against Melbourne.
On Monday night, Channel Nine reported that McKinnon was told by doctors he would not walk again but a statement issued by the Knights insisted there had been no new developments in regards to his condition.
"Alex was brought out of an induced coma following his initial surgery last Tuesday and has been conscious since. Doctors confirmed Alex had suffered a devastating spinal injury on Wednesday," the Knights said.
"On Sunday he was able to communicate with his family after his assisted ventilation was removed.
"While Alex’s condition continues to improve, his body is in the first phase of recovery. As previously shared, he has movement in his right arm and the uncertainty remains in the extent of further recovery.
"The doctors explained any regeneration and recovery could [take] up to two years.
"As Alex remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, visitation is restricted. Therefore coach Wayne Bennett visited on Monday without Alex’s teammates as initially planned."
The Knights said all "factual updates" were made in consultation with McKinnon’s family at a "delicate" time.
"The club is extremely disappointed in the sensationalised television news story on Monday night about this tragic situation," the statement read.
"One of the most important factors for Alex at this time is hope, which was jeopardised by this report."
Members of the club's staff have remained in Melbourne to offer McKinnon and his family support. The club and the McKinnons requested that his privacy was respected.
In a joint statement, McKinnon's parents and partner Teigan Power offered their thanks for the outpouring of public support.
“We would once again like to thank the public and media for the ongoing show of concern and support for our son and partner, Alex," the statement read.
“While there is a lot of detail being reported about Alex’s condition, it is important to remember that it is still early days for him post-injury.
“Those close to Alex know he is strong, and that he is a fighter and, that alone, is reason to remain hopeful.”

Daily Terror were worse saying Alex will be a Quadriplegic, Channel Nine were only saying he was reportedly told this.
Either way the media sensationalism is appalling.

I'm also 1/4. I've gone for the Drags against my better judgement.
Re: Rugby League 2014
Stoopid stinking cheating refs.
Should be 8-6 at half time but instead is 14-0.
