It has the hallmarks of her work. She is a terrible journalist. Of course, a certain person here will take it as gospel truth.

So If Alviro Petersen succumbs to this viral infection, do they drop Duminy, bring de Kock in at 7, and call up Elgar to open with Smith?

Surely they're not considering giving de Kock a debut as a test opener (presumably without the gloves)

It wouldn't surprise me. Hopefully Hudson is consulting with his superior.

Maybe it depends if de Kock is considered "coloured" or not?

I read about a year ago that he might be (not that it should matter at all FFS)

It shouldn't matter, however my sons played with a guy who made his Lions debut this season and he says De Kock is PoC.

According to the radio news it's fine in PE atm.

Don't think that piece you were referring to was written by the dreaded Moonda; think it was an Aussie journo. Smacked a bit of a whingeing mentality as if we're squeaky clean.

Maxwell said on the 5 p.m. news that it was likely that SA would make three changes with de Kock, Elgar and Parnell replacing Peterson, Petersen and McLaren. If this is the case Elgar would probably open but it was mentioned earlier today that dk might take the gloves.  And Clarke hinted on the news that we go for an all pace attack and he even alluded to Watto has being a chance to play.

Robin Peterson was allegedly spotted in a bar so maybe unlikely.

Aus are unchanged. de Kock will make his debut, but is unlikely to open as Elgar has come in for Alviro. Parnell replaces Robbie P.

It would be ludicrous if that led South Africa to change their tactics, ie they WOULD have played a spinner but for a disciplinary issue. If Peterson was stood down then another spinner should have been called up. Who knows, maybe another one was but the conditions led them to leave him out.

So I had it right then, Smile

It's overcast according to Jesse Hogan on radio and so both captains will be tempted to bowl.

No the journos made the comment because it was on the eve of the match so they assumed he knew he wasn't playing.

Chappelli - Australia's batting suddenly looks strong enough to take on any challenge, and South Africa look weak under the leadership of Graeme Smith (05:08) | February 19, 2014 Smile

Finally.

This is the team I picked before the series except I had Abbott in for Parnell

Looks better on paper at least. One might suggest that the Petersons in every guise could be redundant in terms of SA's future.

Overcast and a greenish pitch. Maybe had Smith not got it wrong last week he may have bowled here. Embarassed  Perhaps didn't want to risk sending us in twice and it turning sour though as the commentators mentioned it will be tough up front with the bat.
