Hopefully both Cook and Mathews will be suspended due to the pathetic over rates. What are the ICC rules on this?
Nearly three hours extra played over the match and still a shortfall of 15 overs.
Admittedly, I'm biased on this because Cook being suspended would probably strengthen the England team at the moment but Mathews not playing would weaken the Lankans.

There was a time, when play would just carry on until the allotted number of overs were bowled. I presume that this beyond Sky's pale.
How about hanging the offending captain's gonads over a Bunsen burner - say five minutes for every over not completed?

agree Bas....over rates are a total blight....Cook is the worst offender in this - espesh as he does not have an express attack coming in off the long run ...he just has a Lankard and a Ladi Di lookalike doing his make-up....suspend the dotard

When was that? I seem to recall that when the WI were in their pomp you were lucky to get 75 in a days play.

So when was time when they continued to 90 overs regardless of time?

I don't think that ever happened it's just that they used to play on for an extra hour rather than half an hour. In England at least.

Agree.
Weather permitting, they played the extra one hour to make up for overs lost.
Paradoxically, these days ( under lights, as at most test grounds now) - they've relaxed the ruling to half an hour.

Leeds weather today -
Some patchy cloud around but also periods of warm sunshine.
Most parts dry though an isolated light afternoon shower is not impossible.

Headingley's pretty flat these days when the sun's out. Probably need a spinner. Oh.

Getting your excuses in early? Are you Ali Cook?
Re: England v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Headingley, 20-24 June, 2014
Cook is thinking of a sex change to become a man but I hold out little hope.
Re: England v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Headingley, 20-24 June, 2014
England unchanged, win toss, bowl. Bit cloudy. Flangey says he would've batted.
Sri Lanka change two. Chandimal for Prasanna Jayawardene (injury) and Prasad in for Kulashaker (shitness).

Has anyone criticised Cook's toss decision yet?

Re: England v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Headingley, 20-24 June, 2014
Win the toss and field???!!!
Clearly a committee decision . . .
Obviously England believe that they can handle Herath in their 4th innings at Headingley.
Interesting . . . .

Re: England v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Headingley, 20-24 June, 2014
I'm so thoroughly pissed off with all of our sporting teams at the moment. I suppose the rugby team looks on the way up but other than that they can all just get f*cked to f*ck and f*ck off and go f*ck themselves.
