skully wrote:MrK's right. If Abbott stood again in Warringah, he's safe as houses. LJH was rolled by the Asian vote gained via redistributed electoral boundaries. They massively underestimated that sector of the vote and put little time into it. It was a mistake the Bennelong Libs will never make again.
And there's a big "if" on Abbott standing at the next Fed election. If he does get rolled by Turnbull, which seems inevitable, then he'll retire gracefully to a life of volunteer fire-fighting and leisurely bike rides along the peninsular foreshore.
Are you trying to lure someone into 'NSR".

"Mr Faine was questioning Mr Frydenberg on Mr Turnbull’s ability to command a majority in a potential leadership spill when Mr Frydenberg answered:
“Malcolm Turnbull is a very important member of our team, he’s a good friend of mine and he has been a very good Prime Minister and he holds a number of important views on some of those issues you raised and he is entitled to those.”

FAirfax poll has ALP 51-49 2PP. Looks like the electorate is already factoring in MT's ascension.

Or ALP voters pretending to vote Liberal to keep TA in the job.
Funny how all the right wing commentators are crowing about one poll which could be rogue.
This is the closest it has been since Christmas 2013.
What happens if the next poll shows TA ballooning out again?

More relevantly, TAs popularity continues to reside in the basement and MT is closing the gap on preferred leader for Liberal voters as well.

Just another irrelevant poll. WGAF?
Shorten v Turnbull ... I have not an iota of belief in either of them. Turnbull's as bad as Rudd when it comes to backstabbing ego-driven hubristic focus-group directed political opportunism. How depressing.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
I'd take ScoMo as PM. The Libs would shit in with him at the helm. A hard man who knows how to handle himself in the media.
Anyone watching the new season of House of Cards? Quite a parallel to Aus politics. New President's approval ratings down inside 12 months in office, so has to spend all his time dealing with leadership stuff rather than governing. Of course, it also parallels the 6 years under Krudd-Gillard-Krudd.
