Ian Bell's been given the nod to open again for the one-day side in their first warm-up game.
You might remember that tried, failed, tried, failed, tried, failed and tried, failed formula from such failed ODI incarnations as every other f*cking series.
Get rid of one crab, shoe-horn in the next crab off the rank.

But he is the most technically gifted batsman in English cricket (since his debut in the 2005 Ashes,
or so I'm told) and he has the most elegant cover drive.
Oh yes, AND he comes from a very decent God fearing family.
AND he has a very poke-able missus.
They all count Dell ...

Rubbish fixture in ACT. Proves nothing to either side.

Why are they so reluctant to give Hales a proper chance? They preach all this bullshit about giving players a good run, yet they f*cked around with Root early in his career, and now they're f*cking around with Hales. I'm not saying Hales is definitely the answer, but it's a fact that other players (like yeah, BELL), have received many more chances than he has.
It stinks.

Because their thinking (and I've heard the qunts 'ponder' on the matter) is that if you can hit the ball hard, then that's all you can do. You can't have a defence AND be able to hit the ball. So Ian, bless his heart, is there to waste powerplay balls and be a 'proper' batsman. Â Quite ingenious thinking, I'd say.

Michael Lumb must feel pretty f*cking aggrieved, wouldn't you say? Got three matches, averaged 55, scored a ton. Got pushed out because of Cook, yet Cook is no longer there. I see he's doing well on Aus pitches....
Re: Australia-India-England ODI Tri-series, 16 January to 1 February 2015
I've always said Ian Bell should open in ODIs. It's a no brainer.
Finally, England have realised the error of their ways and restored the pocket rocket to his rightful place at the top of the order.
Bowling's shite still.

So, what have we learned - apart from if we don't score 340+ when batting first, we're fooked?

Yeah, it was difficult to see the likes of Jordan, Woakes and Tredwell doing well on these fair pitches. Never really going to happen. Thought Ravi's nibblers may have done a bit better though

Koo picks up two wickets in the first three balls. Good decision by the Poms to bat first.
