I always wondered what happened to Tony Dell, why he retired so early after performing pretty well in his few Tests ... short career, rapid rise, mysterious disappearance.

ARTICLE

He seems to have aged well, despite everything.

According to skully, soldiers should expect to get PTSD so they can't really complain.

I watched both his Tests; and he did bowl well. Hard to hit because of his height, he moved the ball and had significant pace. If he had hung about another year or two, Max Walker may have struggled to sustain a career.

In Dell's second (and final) Test, Keith Stackpole made possibly the worst Test century I ever saw, littered with false shots and dropped catches. It was his last Test 100 ... he was gone by the end of that summer, I think not just from Tests but also from FC cricket.

The only century I can think of that was even nearly as poor was Hayden's first, despite horrie's recent comments about Gary Cosier's debut ton v the Windies.

Stand Tall For PTS is the official charity partner of the Prime Minister's XI match this year, to be played against England at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday.
thats ironic given the (now increased) difficulty of getting disability for ptsd
